Life Needs: Harmonic Family, Happy Marriage, and Excellent Career

Family plays a very important role in our life. According to Sarah N Nalawati (2011), in her essay For Father and Mother, our life will be empty without family because family can support us and says things that others will not be able to say. Yes, it does. I think the same way, because I myself can do nothing without my family, and I’m sure we all spend most our life with our family. A harmonic family begins with a marriage. A marriage influences our career. But somehow, we can have three of them. It depends on how we live in them.“Family isn’t complete if there is only father and mother, they should be together so that will be a complete family” (Nalawati, 2011: 1), that argument is not always true, because so far my family is still complete without my father. My parents divorced when I was 6 years old, and my mother had been a single parent for 6 years. I lived with my mother, and our life was very complete without a father. I didn’t even need him. My mother often says “being single is much much much better that being with the wrong person”. So, I don’t want to waste my time by being in a relationship with a wrong man, but I still believe that the right one will come in the right time. In the same way, Dina S Vionetta elaborated that the children can be very obstinate or even can be antisocial persons bullying victims in the reason of confidence decreasing and their suffer from a loss of love (2011:1). But that doesn’t happen in me. I’m not an antisocial, and I don’t have any problem with my self-confidence because I keep my principal that “it’s not about how my life is, but it’s just about how I live my life” I have grandparents, cousins, uncles, aunts, and other family members. I don’t really need my father. I just call him when I need more money.Somehow, when I grow up, like other women, I want to build a harmonic family. Of course I must have a maturity of thinking in making a harmonic family. So, my children will not feel what I’ve felt.“To make an ideal family, they need to have a harmonic vision for their life, so they can help each other to achieve their goals. They have to ready to live their marriage life and stick with their partner whether in happy or sad condition. They have to make a blissful family with their children in the future, so they have to be responsible to their partner and their kids.” (Vionetta, 2011:1, emphasis added)Making a family begins with a marriage, but until now, marriage is still being a complicated thing to do, because a family condition depends on the marriage condition. But somehow, we all have to get married if we want to build a family.“Marriage is a dream of every woman all around the world” (Susiyanti, 2011).

Talk about marriage, we also have to talk about career, because both career and marriage related to our life in the future. Susiyanti expressed her principal that getting married is a thing she doesn’t want to do until she is 28 years old (2011:1). She wants to be a successful woman, improve her life, and show her family how special she is (Susiyanti, 2011:1). But in my opinion, we still can have a great career although we had got married, because “it’s not about how our life is, but it’s just about how we live our life”. We all can have both a happy family and an excellent career if we can manage our life well.In short, family is certainly necessary in our life. Although I want to have a harmonic family and be a harmonic parent, happy or not my life in my family doesn’t depend on how complete my family members, but depends on how I manage myself in my family and my marriage. Both marriage and career are important. They should be balanced. I don’t to sacrifice my career for my marriage, but I also don’t want to get married to old form my career. We can have both of them if we can manage ourselves as well.

Improving skill in English

In this era, English is a language which was very needed in every aspect. There are many kinds of methodes to success in study English. Some of easy methode is use it in daily conversation, speak with native speaker, and join in a course.

One of easy methodes is use English in our daily activity conversation. With use it in daily conversation, it will very help to improving our  skill in English. Like  a ungkapan  that education is behavior, so it must be our behavior.  You can try to speak English with your friends, your parents, and your teachers/ lectures maybe. Never shy to try it in everywhere. For examples  you can use English in your field, home, school, market, library, mosque, and etcetera.

In addition, we are not only need use English in everyday conversation but also need to try speaking with native speaker. We can speak with native in  tempat wisata, like Borobudur, Prambanan, Bali and others tempat wisata. But in this modern era  we need not  much money just for  speak with the native speaker, all of this  masalah be easy with the technology. We can speak with native speaker iwith the internet with use the social networking. With use the social networking

we can meet with native speaker by chat. We can chat with the our friends f rom england, amirican and the other countries. Ask our English friends or american friends to correct our speak how the correct one. With that we can study with the native speaker as cheap as posible and very simpoe methodes.

The other correct, simple and easy methode to improving our skill in English is join in a course.  Usually in a course we will get more knowledge with English. Course always use the intensive methode to be succes their student. The course always choose the easy way as easy as posible. But the very important  aspects wich must we pay attention are when we choose a  course we must attention with the tutor’s skill who will learn us in the course  and also we must attention aabout the learning methode.

In conclusion, learning and improving skill in English doesn’t need much cost but it just need more motivation from our selves, because there are many easy ways  to study English, like with chat on  social networking, use it to everyday conversation, and join in the course.

Insane Humans

Every year humans in Indonesia that are going insane is increasing. They

are often found in Main Street, both from men and women. Usually they are in

various pitiful conditions. They live alone with no one care to them. They can eat

only from others compassion. He sleeps just be based on earth and covered with

sky. Moreover, occasionally he becomes laughingstock by children. There are two

caused Insane humans in Indonesia. First, depression about love, Human can get

depression while he can’t get what he wants. Example, he can’t get married with

his girlfriends. Second, depression of economy difficult, humans can’t fill

requirement his live because he not has money and job. Be apprehensive about

condition of crazy humans in Indonesia.

The First cause of insanity was the accumulated stresses which turn into

depression. One of depression’s causes is Love, especially when someone’s love

is rejected.  About love often occurs with young people in Indonesia. Girls and

boys experienced about falling in love. Young people fill so happy while they

falling in love with people who his love. Many of people love his girlfriend so

excessive anything does for can get her love. Start from he spent time and money

to make happy his girlfriend so he forget obligation as student. After he has

already made many sacrifices for his girlfriend with hope that can get married

with his girlfriend, in fact that his girlfriend get married with other people. Young

people broken heart and he despondent so he gets depression about love and

becomes insane humans. Prophet Muhammad said that, “Don’t love something

with excessive cause

Second, insane humans in Indonesia are caused depression about economy

difficult. Today economy in Indonesia is very bad. Many people in Indonesia live

in poverty make they can’t get good food, good healthy and good education.

Beside that they must fulfill their requirement food, healthy and education. Poor

people difficult to find good job because they have lower education so they just

can became beggar to fulfill their necessary. From yield their beggar sometimes

not enough to fulfill their necessary so many of poor people became crazy

humans. In the end economy difficult can influence to increase insane humans in

Indonesia.

In the result, increasing insane human in Indonesia is lower mental so

unable to hold out in live problems. They can’t positive thinking while they have

broken heart and while they have economic difficult. Their problems became

boomerang for their live because they always negative thinking when they get

problem. So their problems can make them depression so they became insane

human in Indonesia.

The Importance of Mastering

Mastering English is one of important language for people in the world.

The importance of English mastery is can be shown seen in some aspects of our

life. First, English is international language. Many countries in the world use

English as their language. Second, English is technological language. Technology

that is produced by human being all over the world is using English. The last,

English is scientific knowledge language because knowledge and science are

centered in western countries. It is very important for us to mastering English.

English is an international language. Many countries in the world use this

language as their main language, for example America, Australia, Canada, etc.

Those countries are big and very influential ones in the world. It That is why

Many international organizations use English as their language to do the

communicate in it. UNO, for example, is one of organizations that use English in

to do their communication. We, as Indonesian people, have to be able speak

English well when we are join in this organization. In addition the other hand,

there are many instruction that use English in public places in foreign country for

example airport, police office, bus station, market, etc. We must understand

English well when we want to know about these instructions. If not, we must be

lost and don’t know where place we want to visit. So, we need English in do our

international activities cause English is global language.

English is technological language. Now, all of technology that are

exported or imported must use English in its instruction. If we use that

technology, we must read the instruction of how to use it. We can operate the

technology well after we know how to use it by read that instruction that use

English. We can’t understand the instruction if we have no abilities in English.

The simple example is computer. When we operate computer, we have to follow

the instructions of how to operate it. Languages that are used in the computer is

English such as “start, copy, paste, save, etc. In short, we can operate well

computer if we can understand English well. So, English are needed to operate

and mastering technology.

English is knowledge language. Scientists and many popular genius people

live in western countries that use English as their language. For examples is

Einstein, Plato, Aristoteles, etc. They write their theory in books. We can

understand about their thinking and theory of some knowledge by read their books

that are written in English. So, we can master knowledge by mastering English

first.

In summary, mastering English is very important because English can’t be

divided with the human daily activities in many aspects. Our international

activities can be done well if we have good ability of English. Technology are in

our hand if we understand English well. We will be smart people and mastering

knowledge if we be the master of English. So, English is a key to get your better

life.

Made and Siti had been a couple for seven years. Having known each other very well, they decided to get married. Seven years are not short times for them to keep their relationship among the differences of their religions. Many scorns came from many people, especially their each family. Siti’s parents are very religious, they have got ‘Haji’ title whereas Made and his family are very faith on their Hinduism. Both Made and Siti won’t leave their each belief, but they don’t want to be separated. Made and Siti only one example of interfaith marriages. No one can separate two people who are in love although their beliefs are totally different, but they also have to think maturely and be well-considered because there are many problems the will face in their interfaith marriage.There will be many refuses from family and people around. Most parents think if children change their belief, it means they betray whole family. “Steve and I had decided to get marriage, but my mother refused it angrily because Steve is a Christian. I had explained my mother many times that it would be no problem to have an interfaith marriage. Unfortunately, Moslem is very cautious about marriage. My mother said that it would be a sin if I got an interfaith marriage. She kept refusing, so I decided to cancel the plan and leave Steven,” said Rita. However, family, especially parents, has a very necessary role in our life. “My whole family was very angry when I said that I would marry Jane. They were totally refuses. My religion, Hinduism, has a very strong and sensitive culture,” In Hinduism, before the marriage, there are some ceremonies that have to be held, guided by a priest. In those ceremonies, the couple has to do a ritual where it can’t be done by anyone except the Hinduisms. “But those all couldn’t be decrease our desire to get marriage. Finally, Jane did those Hinduism rituals, and we also held ceremony in a church. Until now, we have kept this interfaith marriage for 14 years.” Whatever their families will say, obey or not, they decide. They also have to think about the consequences of marriage condition.Interfaith marriage couples usually have full-conflict household conditions. Because their beliefs are different, it’s usual for them to face many differences in daily life. The husband has to pray five times a day, has to do fasting every Ramadhan, whereas the wife has to go to the church every Sunday. Those habitual activities pursue them to understand and respect each other. There is a condition where the husband has to remind his wife to go to the church and celebrate the Christmas Eve, and a condition where the wife has to remind her husband to pray five times a day and celebrate Idul Fitri. Sometime, those activities can influence psychological condition. Made and Siti had been in a relationship for seven years. During their relationship, they have known each other so well, but marriage is not as easy as the possibly think. Although a couple tries hard to cover the differences with love, understanding and respect, there will always be a big high wall between

them. We can imagine if a man has to go ‘Umroh’ to Mecca without his wife and children or if he has to do praying alone every day, whereas the greatest happiness of a Moslem man is if he can be a good leader for his family. We can also see how it feels if a wife cannot celebrate Christmas Eve and go to the church with her husband and children. Those conditions can cause boredom in the marriage. The husband will ask his wife to move to his religion. So will the wife, she will ask her husband to change his religion. If each of them doesn’t want to yield, there will be misunderstanding, and then a conflict will appear between them. A marriage is not about a contract and promise, but more than that, the purpose of marriage is to reach happiness by making a family. So, a couple has to think critically about the differences of their religions. The differences will always be felt in their marriage, especially when they have children.Children will face a trouble to choose what their religion if their parents’ are different. Their father wants them to choose his religion, in the contrary their mother wants them to follow her because she gave them birth. They will confuse whose religion they should follow. Even more, when they grow up, the religious values are very influential for their personality establishment. They will get difficulties in deciding whether they should follow their mother or father, but somehow, they have to choose one religion and tradition. This will cause another conflict and negative effects for children. Made and Siti should pay attention that marriage is not just about their both happiness, but also their children’s they would have.Made and Siti’s interfaith marriage is just one example of other interfaith marriage couples. Their marriage would not as easy as they think because certainly they will face many conflict and refuses. The biggest refuses would come from their families. However, supports from family are important in every marriage, especially parents who have an important position in our life. They would also face many conflicts in their household. The difference would always make a boundary between them no matter how hard they would try to close their eyes from it. The problem would be bigger if they have children. They have to find the best to explain their children about the differences wisely. But, in growing up periods, even a little problem can cause big influences for children’s psychology because they are more sensitive. Those are just few of many problems that will be faced by interfaith marriage couples. Some of them can be successful passing the conflict and keeping their marriages for a long time. Some others give up, and divorce becomes the best way they choose. Successful or not, it depends on how mature and wise they are to find the way out of the conflicts, and how well-considered they are in deciding everything, and how consistent they are to pass all the possibilities that may happen.
