A Message from Murielle, the Executive Director Have you ever noticed how food markets and cafés go pumpkin- crazy in November? It starts in the previous month when people are decorating for Halloween, and continues right up through that last creamy bite of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. And yes, that’s on our CityView Thanksgiving lunch menu! You can go ahead and enjoy dessert, knowing you plan to join the Walking Club after lunch, and most likely will attend Morning Workout on Friday and Saturday at 10:30am. You can even work up an appetite exercising with Phyllis that very morning. The other flavor dominating the season is apple, as these diverse fruits ripen and drop from the tree. Some of us treasure happy childhood memories of apple picking with our families, and if we were lucky, those outings were followed by weeks of homemade apple pie, apple crumble and applesauce. Maybe you even remember this linked YouTube Disney apple cartoon: Please join us on the rooftop for a hot apple cider social November 16 and start making new apple memories. As much as we look forward to Thanksgiving dinner, the holiday is really about something much more important: giving thanks. As a wise person named G. B. Stern once said, “Silent gratitude isn’t much use to anyone.” So please join us in the Creative Zone to make your own holiday cards. We’ll supply the materials, you bring your vision and sentiments. Let people know you care! We’re not keeping quiet about our gratitude. Our thanks in this season go particularly to our wonderful residents, who make CityView a great place to live. Without you, we would have no reason for being. So thanks to you all and have a very Happy (and delicious) Thanksgiving! Mary has been a licensed nurse for thirty-five “very good” years and is especially proud of two honors: She was third runner-up in the2011 Senior Care Humanitarian Awards in Orange County, and she was nominated by herstaff for the Clara Barton Award for Nursing.
