FROM THE DESK OF
THE MANAGEMENT REPRESENTATIVE
O ur MYP and DP students are getting geared up for their educational trip
in September. While safety of our students is the first concern, we also
want our students to imbibe social skills like adjusting with others when
they move out of their comfort zone and experience team spirit. We had
arranged for the meeting of tour organiser and the parents of MYP and IBDP
sections.
I am sure our students are looking forward for their trip !
I wish all our students, staff and parents, a very HAPPY GAURI AND
GANESHA FESTIVAL. May Lord GANESHA, destroyer of all the obstacles
pave way for your success and prosperity in life.
I wish all our MYP and DP students to prepare well for the assessments commencing from 4th
September and ending on 10th September 2014.
September 05: Dr. Radhakrishnan’s Birthday, I wish all my Teachers a very Happy Teachers’
day!

EDITORIAL
NOTICE
The school will be closed for Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations from 29th August
to 2nd September 2014.
There will be a holiday on Monday 8th September 2014 on account of Anant
Chaturdashi.

O range, Green and White, our Indian tri colors were the attire of the day on 14th August
to celebrate our Independence Day! Little ones from early years charmingly dressed
and proudly representing our nation, sang some old favourite patriotic songs with
great fervour. They watched videos on the history of the country. While the nursery children
sported with pride the tri-color head gear, K2 students, made neck ties which they wore in
school. Teachers used the event to inculcate the spirit of patriotism in their young minds and
hearts. Finally, they all sang the National Anthem solemnly to mark the end of the day.

19TH AUGUST ADVENTURE TRIP ……..CHHOTA KASHMIR
3 A and 3 B experienced a half day tour to Kashmir in the heart of Mumbai. They viewed the
surroundings, lush green and fresh under the monsoon skies. Gasping at the little pond with its
variety of foliage and flowers, they stopped from time to time to let out exclamations of surprise,
“look at this!”
Boys and girls together wandered around making connections to classroom information like the
food chain of a pond habitat and life cycle of frogs.
We photographed the students with some pleasant backdrops and returned to school with many
stories to tell.

IIMUN MUMBAI MEGA CONFERENCE 2014
I ndian International Model United Nations (IIMUN) is one of India's leading brands in
education conference management having organized the Asia's Largest Youth Conference in
Mumbai amongst the many other conferences. Being a conference for the youth by the youth, it
is run completely by students in age group of 16-22 years. It provides the youth a platform to voice
their opinions by forwarding their drafted resolutions to the United Nations. It is also the first MUN
in Asia to have its own procedure. This year, the event was organized at The Retreat Hotel and
Convention Centre at Madh Island in Malad.
Day – 1
The first day we had the opening ceremony where noted luminaries were invited to give speeches
related to an MUN conference. To name a few: Mr. Abbas Tyrewala, Imran Khan, Ronnie
Screwala, Rahul Bose were in attendance. In addition to this, Mudassar Khan gave a fantastic
performance. He is said to be the choreographer for Salman Khan in his films. There was also an
Indian dance performance by a troop which had previously performed for the Queen of England. It
was an outstanding performance.
Day – 2
From the second day, we started with proper committee sessions. As it was our 68th Independence
Day, everyone had to wear traditional clothes for the conference. As soon as we arrived at the hotel,
Mr. Fred and Ms. Anushree being our faculty advisors gave us a few instructions and then we
proceeded to our respective committees. I was with Surya in the Legal Committee which is the 6th
committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Our agendas for debate were
―Framework on Diplomatic Immunity‖ and ―Air Law‖. Different committees had different topics to
discuss.

Day – 3
On the third day, as usual we had our committee sessions from 9:30 am till lunch time. Then
committee sessions resumed. When we are inside the committee hall, it’s a totally different
experience. That’s the time when you get to talk in front of so many delegations and put forth your
point. When it comes to resolutions and working papers, it is even more interesting since you need
to identify your allies and talk to them and get their point of view on the issue at hand. Then once
a resolution is finalized, the committee goes under formal voting procedure where you need to
vote for or against it. Only if there is a two third majority in support, then the resolution passes and
vice versa.
Day – 4
On the last day, we had committees
only till lunch time. After lunch time
was the closing ceremony where the
best delegate awards for each
committee were distributed.
Undoubtedly, from the UNODC
Committee Aaryan Pandit got the
Special Mention trophy for being the
most argumentative and outspoken
on the issues of his committee.
Finally, everyone truly enjoyed this
conference and is eagerly waiting to
attend the next IIMUN conference.
