• So important to us we have dedicated hour of learning a week in Year 7 and 8

• Students will follow a programme that will encompass the key competencies through a blend of Building Learning Skills, problem solving and debate and discussion on topical issues such as foreign affairs, art and literature

Example lessonAsk them See, Think, Wonder. What do they notice about the machine? What questions would they ask?• Divide into groups of four• Explain: “You are going to create a

machine with moving parts”• You need to work out what the

machine does and provide a step by step guide as to how it works

• You should provide a diagram• The group will try and guess what

your machine makes• You will then explain how it works• You can use yourselves if you wish

to demonstrate

KS3 Passport to Success Graduation

• At the end of Year 8 every student will graduate with a “Passport to Success” –Bronze, Silver or Gold Award

• Students will have had to demonstrate they have gained their Tudor Grange competencies

• Recognition at KS3 Awards Evening

Skills, action and service (SAS)• Our SAS programme has been successfully

running across the trust• Programme of study designed so that student

are expected to make contributions to the local and national community– Project planning skills– Enterprise– Confidence– Enthusiasm for learning

• The main aim of our KS3 is to underpin success at KS4 and to ensure students are exam ready

• Instil a love of learning at KS3 to ensure this stays with them throughout their academic career

• Intervene where necessary to maximise students chances of success

• Prepare them for 21st century workplace and life with a set of skills not just based on academic results
