WHY YOU SHOULDN’T MISSTHIS GREAT KARTING EVENTThe Rock Island Grand Prix is one of the world’s greatest karting events. You can expect top-notch competition in every class, run in front of tens of thou-sands of spectators. It is more than just a kart race – it is a festival event.
The races are held in Rock Island’s Downtown Arts & Entertainment District which features Jumer’s Casino & Hotel, retail shops, excellent restaurants, live entertainment, dinner theater, art galleries and comedy clubs -- most within walking distance of the host hotel.
There are also nightly outdoor concerts on the Great River Plaza stage. The weekend also includes food, beer and merchan-dise vendors, and many other associated events, as well as the Sunday night Awards Ceremony.
The Rock Island Grand Prix is an independent event which draws entries from throughout the United States and the world competing for one of kart-ing’s largest purses. It has hosted racers from Italy, France, Colombia, Costa Rica, England, Argentina, Bermuda, the Philippines, Canada, Ireland and Mexico. The 16 races are also covered live on Ekartingnews.com .
NEW FOR 2015!• Rock Island Grand Prix will be featured on new Motorsports Road Trip
program on Mav-TV.
• New format will feature heat races with passing points replacing timed qualifying.
• Yamaha Heavy and B&S 206 Heavy classes will have 2 races run on the
same tires for maximum track time and opportunities to win without more tires.
• Margay Ignite class to be a featured race.
• Class payouts will be the same for all classes with amounts to be paid
determined by number of entries in the class.
• 6 inch wheels will be legal in 4-cycle Clone classes.
• Vintage karts will be part of the regular racing program, not an exhibition.
• Expect a different spec fuel for 4-cycle classes.
• 80cc Shifters and Vintage will pay a lesser entry fee but have no purse
payout.
• 125cc Shifters will run Open (King of the Streets) and Open Masters classes.

WHAT THEY ARE SAYING“I am impressed that a karting event can be this big. It’s a credit to the people that put it together and the city for support-ing it. The industry should use events like this as its flag-ship. They need to pepper the year with more events like this one.” – Derek Daly, former Formula 1 driver and veteran TV broadcaster.
“We are very pleased with the exposure we receive and your efforts to put on a great community event.”
– Dennis Pauley
“There’s nothing the size of this race for karting in Europe. Not even close. The racing is bold and aggres-sive, but it’s more fun. Everyone’s happy. When the racing is over, everyone gets together for one big party. That’s a real sport.” – Stefano Pozza, owner, Wildkart factory in Italy.
“The Rock Island Grand Prix is a true prize in the kart-ing community. The location is ideal with the city’s Arts & Entertainment District providing a perfect venue for the race. With great restaurants, nightly outdoor con-certs, and tons of clubs, this place is really rockin’ on Grand Prix weekend. As much as they understand that bustling nightlife helps keep the weekend a “must” for most competitors, the GP staff is also keen to stay on top of the racing community.” – Rob Howden, owner, Ekartingnews.com
“You can’t get this kind of action anywhere else. I swear I felt the sweat coming of the last guy who went by.” – Alvin Torton, spectator.
“In over 40 years of being in and around karting I have never experienced anything like the hospitality and good will that your team conveys. I notice it is infec-tious—most of the competitors seem to not only enjoy it, but help spread it as well.” – Jim Harrison, driver.
“I was impressed by the entire event. Very well orga-nized. We were treated with respect by all the authori-ties. They were glad to have us. The track was safe and challenging. My hat’s off to all who put the show on and the participants for showing karters have class.”– Jeff Brown, driver.
Former Formula 1 driver and veteran commentator Derek Daly was guest track announcer.
