Empowered by Christ, we walk together with all we serve.

On Saturday, April 22nd, Grace Lutheran Church along with Trinity View residents and staff will be tidying up the trails surrounding the Trinity View community. The trails

located on the south side of the community will be cleared of all debris from the previous winter season. Grace Lutheran has been doing Servant Saturday at Trinity View since 2012, when Grace selected the Circular Welcome Garden as their naming opportunity in recognition of their generous gift to the Keeping the Promise campaign. A plaque has been placed in the garden in their honor. This annual event will take place outside from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. with a BBQ picnic prepared by Trinity View dining services. If you would like to help with this annual event, please contact Jonathan in the Activities department.

The first three months of 2017 have been turned upside down so to

speak. We started out with a heavy snow storm, but then the weather

radically changed. In February, we experienced an unusual number of

warm days. Flowers began to emerge and bloom and the grass began to

grow. As the middle of March arrived, with spring just a few days ahead,

the temperature radically dropped and snow crippled the Northeast.

Spring time has now arrived. The first day seemed normal. But now we wait to see

what surprises nature has in store for the next few months.

During the spring time of the year, Judaism and Christianity celebrate the Passover and

Easter respectively. These celebrations lift up and commemorate God’s miracles which

have turned our lives upside down. Judaism will celebrate the Passover which begins

on the evening of Monday, April 10, and ends on the evening of Tuesday, April 18. The

Passover commemorates the narrative of Exodus. The Seder Meal honors how God’s

amazing acts turned the lives of the Israelites upside down as God set the Hebrews free

from slavery in Egypt. Christians observe and celebrate Holy Week and Easter, April 9-

17. Christians remember and celebrate Jesus’ life, death and resurrection from the dead

as described to us in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These Gospel

narratives tell the story of how God turned the world upside for Jesus’ followers, on

Easter morning.

The Book of Exodus and the Gospel narratives tell the story of the Passover and Easter.

These narratives tell us how God has intervened and acted in the past with amazing love

and grace. Likewise, the Passover and Easter stories give us assurance and hope that

God will continue to turn our world upside down both now and into the future with his

amazing grace and love.

Blessings to all,

Pastor Steve Ridenhour

During the first part of April, Trinity View welcomed Mr. and Mrs.

Coleman to the community. David, aka Mr. Coleman, was born in

Waterbury, Connecticut. He lived in Waterbury for years before

moving to Florida. In 1954, David obtained an A.B. from Bowdoin

College in Maine, followed by an M.A. in 1963 from the University of Chicago, and finally in

1969, a Ph.D. from The University of Wisconsin. Through the years, David was a management

consultant and author. He has helped with Christian programs and homes and was a volunteer

at Mission Hospital for five years. In his spare time David enjoys traveling.

Mrs. Coleman, aka Dorothy, was born in Orange County Indiana and has lived in Florida as

well. Dorothy grew up on a dairy farm and was the youngest of 5 children. Dorothy holds a

B.S. in accounting and has volunteered by coordinating blood drives, helping with various

church activities, and as a recovery room volunteer at St. Joseph.

The Colemans met through David’s brother and wife, and have five children. The Colemans

enjoyed going on vacation for a two week trip to France with their daughters and their

daughters husbands. Both stated they will be looking forward to traveling in North Carolina,

more reading time, and visiting grandkids. Please welcome Mr. and Mrs. Coleman to the community!

Trinity View will be holding its annual volunteer appreciation social on

Sunday, April 23rd at 2:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room. The event is

held every year honoring everyone who has helped with social

activities, outings, marketing events, and community events at large.

An array of refreshments will be provided by Trinity View’s dining services department. The

entertainment will be provided by the a capella singing group called “Blissing”, which consists

of three ladies from around the Hendersonville area. Invitations will be sent out to those

residents and community volunteers who have given their time to our community.

TAXI, PLEASE

Residents at Trinity View don’t need taxi service very often, but when

they do it is very expensive. We have found a local service which is

very reasonable and you may want to take note of it. Call Asheville

Transportation at 828-691-1185 and ask for Robert. He is prompt, helpful and very

reasonable. Be sure to tell him you live at Trinity View.

MUSIC, PLEASE

Our next Residents’ Association Meeting will be held on

Monday, April 10th at 3:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room and

we have a new feature: A Sing Along! At the grand piano

will be none other than Dot Williams and leading us in song will be Faye Butler! Come

join us for a good time!

Trinity View will be having its annual Easter Brunch for residents

and families on Sunday, April 16th from 11:30 a.m. till 1:30 p.m. If

you plan to join us, please sign up so we can arrange enough seating

and food. The sign-up sheet will be in the information center;

located across from the Business Office. There will be reserved tables for those who

have outside guests joining them. If there are any residents that would like to reserve a

table together, please let Devon know. For everyone else there will be open seating.

Please RSVP by Tuesday, April 11th. Reservations will not be accepted past this

date! It is important to get a final count by this date for food ordering and organizing of

seating to accommodate everyone. If you have questions, please contact Devon.

Our April display table features a Tennessee/North Carolina book title

“The Ballad of Frankie Silver.” Frankie is the dependent; her husband

the victim. The story is told by a recuperating sheriff in North Carolina,

who is working on a similar case. He recalls that as a young man he had

debated the outcome of the Silver case, so decides to look into it along

with his current case. Have a good read and see if you think justice or

mercy should have prevailed. -Your Trinity View Library Committee
