If you were like me, you sat glued to the television attempting to gain as much information about what was going on in Boston. Experts say that it isn’t such a good idea to be watch- ing these 24 hour news programs. Usually they have about 5 minutes of news and pictures which they try to fill a full hour of programing. Sometimes there is a fast sequence of breaking events. However, more often than not, we just sit there and watch the same thing over and over again. And that isn’t very healthy for our emo- tional wellbeing. In spite of all that, we wanted to know what was happening with the bombings at the Boston Marathon. Who was behind this act of terror? How could people do such things? Terror bombings are supposed to happen elsewhere in the world, not in our hometowns. As the police narrowed their focus on the two brothers we started to wonder about them. How did they go from good, strong naturalized American citizens who worked hard to carve a new life to cowards who hid behind the scenes in order to carry out their horrific plot to kill and injure as many people as was possible? At first, in the early part of the week, we had little information concerning who and why this was done. By the time the sun came up on Friday morning we had more answers, one suspect killed in a shootout with police and another one who was in hiding. Very carefully the police and FBI made a detailed house to house search, ending up with the discovery of the second suspect, who was injured and captured. I have to admit, it felt good to have the police find and arrest this man. It becomes increasingly clear to us (almost on a daily basis) that the world and our country are becoming more and more violent places. We can come up with many causes and solutions; and we hear them debated daily. Perhaps all this is necessary. However, for us as children of God there is one thing that does give us peace and assurance. Jesus’ love, grace and saving power are with us; growing inside, rising to new life all because of the Easter message that Christ has risen from the dead. This is what we are to remember. This is what we are to claim. This is the one, un- changing source of consistency - promise and hope that our Lord has won for us. Claiming and living in this promise of new life may not change much of what goes on in the world. However, it does change you and me. The promise of Christ that there is restoration and new life beyond our time on this planet keeps us in the strength of His arms. This keeps us safe and moving forward through His love. Thanks be to God that you and I have been blessed with this source of peace and strength in such trying times. In Jesus’ Name …………………… Amen Pastor Gerhard

Pastor’s Perspective: “What In The World Is Going On?”

This past week has been a very difficult time for us as a nation. If you were like me, you sat glued to the television attempting to gain as much information about what was going on in Boston. Experts say that it isn’t such a good idea to be watch-ing these 24 hour news programs. Usually they have about 5 minutes of news and pictures which they try to fill a full hour of programing. Sometimes there is a fast sequence of breaking events. However, more often than not, we just sit there and watch the same thing over and over again. Our Spring Open House is this Thursday, April 25 from 7:00-8:00PM. All our welcome! Our hallways are bursting with spring. The entrance and stairway are filled with artwork by the preschool students. Check it out! We will leave the artwork hanging through May 5. This is the date that the preschool children will be singing at the 10:30AM Contemporary Service here at Trinity. We hope many of you will enjoy this time of celebration and worship as the children share their musical and artistic talents. If you haven’t been downstairs in a while, please take the time at either of these two dates to see what the preschool has been up to. On a personal note, I would like to thank my dear, dear Trinity family for all of the heartfelt thoughts, prayers and gestures of sympathy for me and my family as we grieve the loss of my Dad. It is a sad and difficult time but we have felt your love and support through it all. Thank you. –Nancy Harrow, Director

Spring is here and with that comes the annual spring cleaning for many of us. As we work to rid ourselves of items we no longer want or need, may we remind you that your castoffs could be someone else's treasure.

The Outreach Team would like to invite you to donate these items to others in need by donating to our annual Give Away Day. The date for this event is Saturday, August 10th. We will be collecting these items starting Sunday, August 4th. If you are needing to donate these items before August 4th please contact Lois Melvin at 474 -2388 or Joann Vanbuskirk at 474-6963. We are in need of children's clothing but are not accepting any adult clothing. Please remember your donations should be appropriate with a church function. Thank you so much Trinity for your support with this ministry. Outreach Team

Thank you to the congregation, preschool board, staff and family of Trinity Lutheran Church and Preschool. Your love and support for me and my family as we grieve the loss of my Dad is greatly appreciated. The flowers were beautiful and I have received many cards, kind words, thoughts and prayers from all of you. I want to especially thank Theresa Weller for her prayers and support, Pastor and Linda Kraus for prayer, support and attending my Dad’s service, and to all of my staff who are also my dear friends for flowers, prayers, support, traveling all the way to Cincinnati to be with me and for the comfort of knowing they would all keep the preschool running smoothly in my absence. God bless you all. –Nancy Harrow, Preschool Director

A sincere “thank you” and “God bless you” to all those concerned in preparing the food and serving for the Senior Appreciation Luncheon on Sunday. Thank you, Melissa Matz for your piano music. And thank you, Praise Team, for again blessing us with your beautiful music and voices! Pastor Paul and Marilyn

Dear Trinity Family: Thank you for the blessing of all your prayers, cards and well wishes during my recent hospitalization. A special thank you to the Prayer Shawl Ministry for the hand crocheted shawl and to the Dorcas Circle for the beautiful lap quilt. Both have been a comfort to me since I’ve received them. I am especially appreciative of the visits, prayers and communion with Pastor Michles. I am blessed and appreciative beyond words. In Christ’s Love, Joann Weller

Trinity Lutheran Church

The Mission of Trinity Lutheran Church

is to:

Come and See! Go and Tell!

Matthew 28:5-8

(5) But the angel said to the women, "Do

not be afraid; I know that you are looking

for Jesus who was crucified. (6) He is not

here; for he has been raised, as he said.

Come, see the place where he lay. (7)

Then go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He

has been raised from the dead, and indeed

he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there

you will see him.' This is my message for

you." (8) So they left the tomb quickly

with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his

disciples.

We come and see that the Lord is risen

from the grave for the forgiveness

of our sins.

We go and tell others about Jesus.

To direct our focus we use the image of a

Lighthouse.

Why a lighthouse?

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am

the light of the world. Whoever follows me

will never walk in darkness but will have

the light of life."

John 8:12

“Let your light shine before others, so that

they may see your good works and give

glory to your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

Do you enjoy gardening? Trinity is very fortunate to have a beautiful Bible Garden and if you enjoy gardening, the Bible Garden Team would appreciate a helping hand. In spring, they get together on Tuesdays at 9:00AM to work in the garden for approximately 1 hour. As summer approaches with warmer weather, they meet at 8:00AM to enjoy the ‘cooler’ gardening time. If interested, you can show up ready to garden on Tuesdays or contact Dick Fisher to ask questions or let him know of your interest.
