Increase in Tuition Fees

Page 2: Treatment for increase in tuition fees

Intentions

I am proving that students from poorer backgrounds are less privileged to study for higher educations for better qualifications and jobs. As they would have less income in order to pay for the tuition fees. Young students are stressed as it is a huge amount of money they would not be sure what to do with their future as many students now are having second thoughts.

I am proving … I am exploring …

I am exploring how many students are and not going university in 2012, and whether this may be because of the rise in tuition fees. They may have given up the idea of going university. Those students who have took gap years and those who wanted to go to university at a later stage of their lives.

My ANGLE will be the affects increase in university fees will have on students.

I am challenging …

I will be mainly showing the affects and disadvantages this will have on students.

Investigating I am going to be investigating on the increase in university fees and why they have risen in the first place and whether it is going to impact the future students. Looking at the statistics of those people that are taking out loans and those are financially good.

Defamation

I cannot criticize the views and opinions of anyone taking part in my documentary. Privacy and Confidence As I am going to be interviewing Lee Scott a governmental minister who is a conservative member, I will need to ask his permission to release any confidential information of the footage I have recorded of him during the interview. However in this case I have asked his permission for his interview to be shown. Copyright several sources which I will be using will be from secondary research. Media Law

Page 15: Treatment for increase in tuition fees

Legal and Regulatory Considerations

OFCOM stands for office of communication which is permitted by the government allowing to broadcast on TV and radios in the UK. Reconstruction- I cannot film anyone random who is not a specialist, such as someone who is not a professor or a governmental minister. An example for this is filming an interview with a person who looks similar to an Governmental Minister on an event which did not take place. Criminality- My documentary cannot consist of violence because it would be inappropriate for younger people and may influence them. Examples for this is of a man throwing a fire distinguisher from the roof and students vandalising police vans.

The market

For unique selling point I have not yet watched any documentaries on increase in university fees however I have seen clips from u tube. I feel that this hasn’t given the audience much information about the topic and that this documentary will be useful and beneficial for them to watch as I will educate them. An example of a programme which my audience would watch is Misfits it’s aimed towards both males and females. This can help me as I can pick out points on how I can make my documentary appealing . By using up beating music and the type of mode address they use is informal. This will help me as it will make my audience interested in listening and watching my documentary. My documentary will be broadcasted on weekdays, the advantage is that there are no other existing media texts which broadcast this so there is not a clash between similar programmes.
