of good practice of welding and its Inspection
methodology. Our objective is to provide quality
training and thus to inspire the performers for making
efficient joints on work pieces by proper welding and
also to adopt precise Inspection methodology to
ensure its quality and soundness
This training module helps the participants of the
programme not only to understand various Weld
Technologies but also to practice on quality
evaluation of welds by employing suitable and
precise Non Destructive Testing on the joints.
So, to carry out the objective of imparting efficient
knowledge of Inspection methodology on Welds to
the participants, a-3-day training schedule is designed
by the experts who have excellent knowledge and
work experience in the field of metallurgy, welding
and Non Destructive Testing.

retirement from the Indian Institute of Technology in the year 1998 after teaching and doing research in the areas of nondestructive evaluation and metal casting for nearly 30 years and later he taught at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from 1998 to 2004.
Presently he is stationed in Chennai and is working as a consultant to M/S Sundaram Brake Lining, Chennai and a few steel foundries. He has published multimedia educational CDs and conducts Level III orientation courses.
Dr. O. Prabhakar obtained his B.Tech and Ph.D in Metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai and M.E in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. His primary areas of interests are nondestructive evaluation and metal casting.
He retired as Manager in Corporate Quality-Chennai in Feb 2013. He has 34 years of field experience in NDT & Quality Audit and surveillance activities in the Global recognized organization Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) in various divisions.
He acted as Secretary- ISNT Chennai Chapter –He is one of the Faculty of ISNT Chennai Chapter and promoting NDT activities of the organization since 1988 onwards. He occupied himself as course director for several ASNT-SNTTC-1A Certification Training Courses in various NDT methods as organized by ISNT Chennai Chapter and several academic Institutions and Industries.

He is having 46 Years of Industrial and field experience in the Welding and Erection of Pressure Vessels, Process Columns, Storage Tanks of Cone roof type and Floating roof type for oil refineries, communication towers and also adequate knowledge of machining and maintenance of factory equipments and transport vehicles, preparation of quality manuals in line with ISO 9001/ ISO 3834 ISO 14731 / and ISO 9606 standards requirements / quality assurance systems / and training on the importance of quality in the system by educating the employees etc.
