CROSS RS 4 is the fourth generation of traffic light controllers by CROSS. They meet the highest safety standards and offer the most advanced traffic funcional-ity.
CROSS traffic light controllers can work in the decentral-ized mode in a “master – slave” coordination and/or can be integrated into an urban traffic management center.
CROSS RS 4 is designed to work with a range of traffic detectors. Signal head outputs are fully configurable and each output is individually monitored with an independent microprocessor using an analogue sensor.
Model CROSS RS 4S is a small and compact device for fast and easy installation and integration. It is ready for a range of peripheries such as a 4,3“ LCD touch screen.
Also available as OEM.

• Vehicle location (using GPS)
• Logical position on the line (depending on stops)
• Real time deviation from timetable
• Vehicle operating conditions info (status such as driving, opening doors, etc.)
• Ability to exchange data at a distance of hundreds of meters between vehicle and controller
• Selective vehicle preference assignment
• Respects the local hierarchy of rights
• Minimizes the delay of all vehicles at intersections
• Optimizes the coordination necessary for public trans-port vehicles
• Only gives preference to physically present vehicles
• Isolated branch opens only for the current passage of public transport vehicles
• Can provide additional public transport dependent traffic functions
ACtive preferenCe of pUbLic TransporTCROSS presents a comprehensive solution for public transport preference at traffic light con-trolled intersections. These systems use real-time data communication between vehicles and traffic light controllers to offer maximum convenience for all road users. CROSS traffic light con-trollers manage signal plans in real time and assign the vehicle preference required.

CROSS PTC is a software tool for parametric programming and uploading of traffic definitions into CROSS traffic light controllers (with the option of real-time monitoring).
eDaptiva is a multi-featured urban traffic management center. eDaptiva provides monitoring, supervision, and adaptive control and meets different requirements of small, middle-sized or large urban areas.
Basic system monitoring is available also via eDaptiva web thin client.
The CROSS software package contains a comprehensive range of products for configuration, remote control, and monitoring of traffic controllers. It facilitates traffic design and traffic modelling, device supervision, traffic monitoring, strategic and adaptive control.
The system is based on CROSS PTC (maintenance and programming software) and eDaptiva (full-featured urban traffic management center), which cooperate together. The solution is complemented by an add-on module – eDaptiva web thin client for system monitoring by using eDaptiva services.

Adaptive control and public transport preference (as a part of integrated ITS project)
In early 2013 a public transport preference project in the city of Zlin was completed. A total of 88 public transport vehicles were equipped with on-board units, communication devices, and multi-function displays for drivers. Simultaneously, 41 traffic controllers were equipped with radio-modems for two-way communication between vehicles and controllers.
The system, now in full operation, uses two-way online communication that informs a traffic controller about the current position of an incoming vehicle or a vehicle stopped at a nearby bus stop. The controller utilises this information for an optimisation of control and adapts (extends) green time in the direction of the vehicle passage. At the same time, the vehicle driver is informed about the optimum time for quick and uninterrupted passage through the intersection. Thus, the driver can, for example, stay longer at a bus stop before departing and still reach the intersection on a green light (or when green is about to be given).
Thanks to this system of public transport preference, individual lines achieved up to 20% travel time reduction. Furthermore, on the basis of this data, time schedules have been ad-justed.
