After weeks of knock-outs and decision victories, the in-
augural Andaman League 16-man tournament will conclude with a final bout on May 27 at Soi Ta Ied Stadium that pits together two of the toughest fighters on the island.
Tuktatong Tigermuaythai will take on Mongkonpet Dragonmuaythai in three weeks time to crown the tournament’s first champion and claim the B200,000 prize money, one of the biggest cash titles in Phuket history.
Both fighters took care of three opponents each prior to the May 27 match-up.
The semi-f inals were held this past Tuesday (May 6) with a slate of bouts that included fighters from all around the island.
Mongkonpet punched his ticket to the final with a decision victory over Sang-moragot Phukettopteam after battling through several strong leg kicks early in the bout.
Moments later, Tukta-tong knocked-out Nakonsri Rawaimuaythai in the second round with a vicious elbow

CAPTAIN LUCAS NEILL has been dumped from Aus-tralia’s World Cup squad with coach Ange Postecoglou saying he does not have the form or fitness to justify go-ing to Brazil.
The decision spells the end of the 36-year-old’s interna-tional career after 96 games for his country.
Postecoglou said the deci-sion not to select him in his provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup was not easy, adding he wasn’t convinced the defender could cope with the rigours of football’s show-piece event.
“In terms of form and fit-ness, there just wasn’t enough evidence there for me to say that he would be able to hold up in the World Cup,” said Postecoglou, who informed Neill of his axing a week ahead of officially announcing

his squad out of respect for the player.
Either Crystal Palace mid-fielder Mile Jedinak or former Everton stalwart Tim Cahill are favoured to be named captain for the World Cup next month. Australia have Spain, the Netherlands and Chile in their group.
Neill, who made his inter-national debut in 1996, has led Australia 60 times but has struggled for game time since last November.
He finally signed with English championship team Watford in February before a loan move to Doncaster Rovers.
Since Postecoglou was appointed coach following the sacking of German Holger Osieck last October, many of the veterans from Australia’s 2010 World Cup campaign have called it quits, includ-ing Mark Schwarzer, Harry Kewell and Brett Emerton. AFP
League will take place at the new Soi Ta Ied Stadium on Tuesday, May 27. Tickets are B1,200 for general seating and B2,000 for VIP.
