Tom taught Canada’s first computer crime course, and was involved in drafting out first computer crime legislation. Tom’s latest

book, “Technocreep” outlines how technology becomes creepy in hidden ways that are difficult to understand, and still change our lives in fundamental ways such as our information tracked on the internet. There are digital tracks through Google, debit card, credit card patterns as well as information from survey’s taken. Tom is currently contributing to a Treasury Board of Canada white paper on Blockchain and Government.

Tom provided a series of examples and history on the status of the internet today. How one is tracked and targeted by companies based on your shopping and browsing history. Also concepts on how in the future things will be even more targeted.

The Wheels on the Bus Went Round and Round ...A bus load of Chinookers gathered at the Carriage House on Saturday morning, and climbed on the bus and headed to Rosebud.

Following a great buffet meal, some musical entertainment, and a short opportunity for some shopping, we wandered over to the Theatre to see “Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Christmas Carol”. It was a great show, thoroughly enjoyed by all. Then it was back on to the bus, where a few of us rested up aer an acve day, for the trip back to Calgary.

Let’s come together May 3rd - 5th, 2019

and do what we do best: build community.

But let’s not just focus on our efforts out in the world. Let’s look inwards.

Let’s strengthen our ties and our resolve. But let us also build the most important part: unity. Let’s come together now and strive to stay together tomorrow.

Let’s open our arms to our club members, our own communities and every other region. Let’s open our minds to new ways of doing things.
