Room 4 has been exploring new and exciting writing opportunities. We were able to use a fun science experiment to help write a procedure, ‘How to blow up a balloon without a pump’. First we had to put a ½ a cup of white vinegar into a drink bottle, then using a funnel we poured 2 spoons of bi-carbonate of soda. Carefully, the balloon is attached to the top of the bottle and slowly lifted allowing the contents to fall into the bottle. Sit back and watch as a chemical reaction occurs creat-ing a gas and inflating the balloon. All instructions were given verbally and once the experiment was finished everyone had to write a procedure to share with others. We had a lot of fun.

Room’s 10,19 and 20 visited Naturescape at Kings Park on Tuesday 29 May. We learnt about the different animals that live in Kings Park. We found ants, spiders, millipedes, bees, cockatoos and butterflies. We had fun exploring the natural bush environment of Naturescape.

Both of the Thornlie Netball teams played extremely well in their games against Gibbs Street PS. Miss Pol was particularly impressed with both teams self-leadership and decision making on the day. It is very clear that all players are becoming more and more confident with the rules of Netball.

The Thornlie PS Soccer team played against Gibbs St Primary School. The boys played a great game and showed wonderful sportsmanship. During the game the team displayed their excellent passing and dribbling skills and as a team they managed to score 9 goals against a valiant Gibbs Street team.

Thornlie Primary School’s Football team performed outstandingly in their match against Gibbs St Primary School. They displayed excellent teamwork and sporting spirit, which led to an impressive win.
