To the Editor—The use of the Supreme Court decision outlawing segregation in education as a public relations weapon against current Communist criticism of the United States is a dangerous device. In the first place, this welcome decision was long overdue for millions of Americans, not because we want to look well before our world neighbors, but rather because it was right that inequalities be officially removed by our government. Secondly, southern stubbornness may be effective in further airing our soiled linen before the world, in spite of this decision. Thirdly, it is quite evident that much more than a law or decision is required before the evil effects of racial dualism are erased from our culture. Instead of boasting of an overdue accomplishment, we should set about the task of defeating southern resistance and building integrated relationships in both north and south. When we accomplish the goal of integration, we will not have to worry about what others think about us. They will know the truth.FRANCIS E. DAVIS

To impress the Asiatics, nine misguidedpolitical appointees have decided to change theway of life of fifty million Americans in twenty onestates of our great nation. If we red bloodedsouthern Americans submit to this unconstitutional“judge made law” and surrender our Caucasianheritage of sixty centuries, the malignant powers ofcommunism, Atheism, and mongrelization will surelyfollow. Where is our patriotic tradition of courage, honor, integrity and wisdom left us by GeorgeWashington, Thomas Jefferson, and Robert E. Lee?Are we fit to tread these lands bought for us by theblood, sweat, and tears of our unconquerableancestors and our fallen brethren?Robert B. PattersonIndianola, Miss.

School segregation is out in the South. When will Omahastop segregating school teachers? The few Negro teachers in Omaha

teach in schoolsthat have predominantly Negro students. The one Negro school principal

is principal of a school that has almost all Negro students. No Negro teachers in any high school

in the entire city. Several months ago the Omaha Star published along list of highly qualified Omaha Negro college graduates who had to go to other cities to teach

because the Omaha school system would not hire them because of their color.

This year it is reliably estimated the public school system will need from 30 to 40 new teachers, many of these new teachers will teach in Omaha’s public high

schools. How long are we going to permit segregation of school teachers in Omaha? This year would not be too early to end it. The superintendent of schools in Columbus, Ohio is considering the use of Negro teachers in the high schools there. What about the Superintendant of schools in Omaha, Nebraska?
