The set ticket prices are at a rate that we feel are fair with the other rodeos in the region. Wristbands may be purchased at a weekend rate. The wristband, or your contestant number, must be worn at all time to gain entrance. If you do not have a wristband or number, you will be asked to pay the gate fee again. Please allow the volunteer gate crew to do their job without complaint.

Contestant Check In: Check-in will be held under the grandstands on at the Stanley County Fairgrounds (signs will be posted) on Tuesday, June 16th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and Wednesday June 17th from 2:00 pm -7:00 pm. If you are not able to check in by 7:00 pm on the Wednesday the 17th, you must call (605)-941-7330 prior to 7:00 pm on Wednesday June 17th. If you do call in your entry, then you must pick up your number at the Secretary’s Office before 8:00 am on Thursday, June 18th. The Secretary’s Office is located in the northeast corner under the grandstands. See State Finals COVID Guidelines in the Qualifier Packet for additional pertinent information. If a contestant is medically released out at Regionals, they must have a Medical Release in order to compete at the State Finals.

Additional community information, such as places to eat and shop, will be available to contestants at the time of registration.

Stalling: There are 300 stalls with access to water hydrants on the grounds. Stalls are on a first come, first serve basis. Identification tags for the horse stalls will be provided and contestants are required to provide identification information in case of an emergency. Wood chips will be required and can be purchased at the fairgrounds, there is no cleaning fee, but cleaning out your stall is greatly appreciated. Contestants are responsible for securing the stall gate (rope or chain). Electric fence pens, personal portable stalls, or tying your horse to your trailer overnight IS NOT permitted.

Camping: There are 66 campsites, 16 of them are full hook-ups, the other 50 are electrical only. Reservations have already been made for the camping sites. The sites not reserved in advance will be locked up.

Contestant Meeting: There will be a mandatory contestant meeting on the morning of Thursday, June 18th beginning at 8:15 am in the Grandstands.

Saturday Final Round: The final round will be in their designated arenas. The girls, in the girl’s arena and the boys in the boy’s arena.

Award Recognition: Sunday morning, an award ceremony and breakfast will be held at the Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center. National Team qualifiers-bring your Social Security number and both your parents to sign paperwork.

NRA Qualifying Shoot: There will be a NRA Rifle qualifying shoot on Wednesday, June 17th at 1:00 pm at the State Finals. Willow Creek Wildlife Inc, will be hosting the shoot. Meet outside the Rodeo Office at 12:40.

2020 SOUTH DAKOTA HIGH SCHOOL RODEO STATE FINALS CONTESTANTS

In the State Finals Qualifier packet on sdhsra.com, is all of the information that you will need for the State Finals High School Rodeo to be held in Fort Pierre, SD June 16-21, 2020. Run the information in this packet off so it is readily available if you have qualified for the State Finals. In order to qualify you must have received at least three points in at least one event at the Regional High School Qualifying Rodeos. The position draw will be posted on the SDHSRA Website as soon as it is complete. Please check that information at www.sdhsra.com. If you find a mistake or have any questions, please call the State Secretary, Ann Sundermann, immediately. She can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at 605-941-7330. Remember that you can only take points from your top 3 rodeos to the State Finals. As you will note there are two different sections for each event. If you are in the list that says TM/FN that means that you will be up in that event on Thursday 9:00AM and Friday night at 5:00 PM. If your event says TN/FM, then you will be up in that event on Thursday night at 5:00PM and Friday at 9:00AM. The position that you see on the draw sheet on the sdhsra website is the position in which you will compete. This will be reversed for the second go-round. The Cutting, both boys and girls, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 PM and Wednesday morning following the RCH. Girls Cutting will go first, followed by the Boys Cutting. Finals for the Cutting will be held Wednesday at 4:00 PM. The Reined Cow Horse event will be held Tuesday following the Cutting and Wednesday at 8:00 AM, with the RCH Short Round following the Cutting Wednesday afternoon. If there are conflicts with girls in the Girls Arena and the team roping, the Girls Arena takes precedence. The Mandatory Contestant’s Meeting is Thursday morning at 8:15 AM, in the grand stands. Calendar Coat pictures, Student Event Director (not alternates) pictures and Cinch Team pictures will be taken right after the meeting. Bring your calendar coats, if you received one, to the meeting. There is an entry fee charged at check-in. A fee of $20 per event and $50.00 per RCH and CTG event will be collected. Please bring your entry fee money when you check in and receive your back number. The Host Committee will collect a Facility Fee of $50.00 per contestant. Everyone must pay the facility fee. You will also be able to purchase any All Performance Passes for $50.00 and Day Sheets at the cost of $2.00 each. You may write one check for any/all of these items. Only the contestant may go through registration, please follow marks on the floor and any other guidelines in place. Remember that Check-In will be on Tuesday 1:00 PM -4:00 PM, and Wednesday, 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM ALL CONTESTANTS MUST BE CHECKED IN BY WEDESDAY, 7:00 PM OR FACE DISQUALIFICATION. Go-Round Awards are given in the form of a certificate to receive a free picture from the official photographer at the State High School Finals Rodeo. These awards are given for the 2nd through 4th placing in each event in each go-round. To claim your award, you must stop by the Cowboy Images booth under the Grandstands and pick up your certificate for a free 8X10 photograph. It is your responsibility to come and get the award certificates. You may then take it to the official photographer’s booth and choose your picture. If you have any questions, please check in the rodeo office. You will need the following information if you should make it to National’s: Your social security number, the length and power needs of your trailer if you intend to camp in Lincoln, the number of stalls you will be needing, and your check book. Both of your parents will need to be there to appear before the notary, unless one parent has full custody of you or one is deceased. You will need these things to complete your National Team Paperwork. They cannot wait until the next day. Put them in your trailer now so you have them, hopefully you will need them! If you are a National Qualifier – You and your parents/guardians are required to attend the National Meeting Sunday morning at 8:30 am the Casey Tibbs Center. * (a venue change would be posted on the High School Rodeo Facebook page) The National Registration entry paperwork will be completed at this time, followed by the Awards Ceremony and pictures. Breakfast will be served and your families are certainly welcome.

To: 2020 SDHSRA State Qualifiers RE: Check-In YOU NEED THE FOLLOWING FOR CHECK-IN AT STATE…… * If you had a “medical release out” of your last Regional Rodeo, you must have a “medical release in” to compete at State Finals. * Check in will be on: Tuesday, June 16, 1:00-4:00 MST, Wednesday, June 17 1:00-7:00 MST * An entry fee of $20.00 per event/$50.00 for Cutting and RCH will be collected at check-in, along with a facility fee of $50.00 per contestant. Everyone is required to pay the facility fee. Weekend passes will also be available for purchase at this time. You will need to bring your money to check- in. Calendar prize coats will be handed out at this time. Follow Registration Guidelines please. If you have not filled out a Stanley County Waiver for 4-H, you will need to submit a completed form. * If you have truck trouble or an emergency of sort you must call the emergency number of 605-441-0844(Mary Kay) by 7:45 pm. * Ann Sundermann, Secretary, can be reached at 605-941-7330. * Stall tags will be available at time of check-in and must be filled out in case of emergency. You may not stall your horses until registered and stall tags are provided. Padlocks will be cut. * There will be a Mandatory Contestants Meeting Thursday morning beginning at 8:15 am in the grandstands. The Calendar Coat picture will also be taken at that time – bring your coat with you. * You must confirm your AQHA Horse of the Year at check-in, applications were due March 1. * If you are selected to be a Student Director, you must pick up your arm band at check-in. You will receive a letter or phone call indicating so, if you have been selected. The Student Director picture, not alternates, will be taken right after the Wednesday evening Contestant’s Meeting. * Team Cinch members and all Student Officer Nominee’s are responsible to help carry flags in the Grand Entry at each performance. Please be there. The Team Cinch picture will be taken directly after the Thursday morning Contestant’s Meeting. Please wear your Cinch shirts. *If you should make the HS National Team, you will need your SS number, and you and both parents must attend the national awards ceremony and meeting on Sunday morning, June 20th. STANLEY COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS WAIVER AND RELEASE AGREEMENT

Please read carefully before signing. This is a release of liability and wavier of legal rights.

This Release is executed on , 20____, by of , (Participant’s Name) (Address) here referred to as Releasor. In consideration of being permitted to participate in horse racing, rodeo, equine activities, and/or other events as the case may be, conducted at the Stanley County Fairgrounds, Releasor, for himself/herself, and his or her spouse, legal representatives, heirs and assigns, as the case may be, hereby releases, waives and discharges Stanley County, Hughes County, the Fort Pierre Chamber of Commerce, and the Verendrye Benevolent Association, its directors, officers, agents, employees, volunteers, members, promoters, sponsors, advertisers, owners and lessees of the premises, and each of them, here referred to as Releasees, from all liability to the Releasor, his or her spouse, legal representatives, heirs and assigns, as the case may be, for any and all loss or damage, and any claims or damages resulting therefrom, on account of injury to Releasor’s person or property, even injury resulting in paralysis or death of the Releasor, whether caused by the negligence of Releasees or otherwise while the Releasor is competing, working or for any purpose participating in horse racing, rodeo, equine activities, or any other events, as the case may be. Releasor agrees to indemnify the Releasees and each of them from any loss, liability, damage or cost which Releasees may incur due to the presence of Releasor in or upon the Stanley County Fairgrounds and its outlying areas and outbuildings, whether caused by the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise. Releasor hereby assumes full responsibility for the risk of bodily injury, death or property damage due to the negligence of Releasees or otherwise while in or upon the Stanley County Fairgrounds and its outlying areas and outbuildings and while competing, officiating in, working or for any purpose participating in horse racing, rodeo, equine activities, and other events as the case may be. The undersigned further understands that he/she is financially responsible for any such medical treatment. Participant and participants parents and natural guardian or legal guardian do hereby acknowledge that he/she is aware of the dangers involved in participating and attending horse racing, rodeo, equine activities, and other events and understand that such activities expose him/her to substantial risk of property damage, personal injury, death, and other harm. Releasor expressing acknowledges the existence of SDCL Chapter 42-11 (the equine activity immunity law) and its contents; expressly acknowledges the existence and location of the signs placed at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in contemplation of SDCL 42-11-5; expressly agrees that this release, waiver, and indemnity agreement is intended to be as broadly and inclusively construed as permitted by the laws of the State of South Dakota, and that if any portion thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance of this Release shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect. STALLING AT STATE HIGH SCHOOL RODEO FINALS IN FORT PIERRE

- Stalls are on a first come, first served basis. - The ONLY Reserved Stalls are for the High Calendar Salesperson in

each region. If that is you and you have qualified for State Finals, call SCOTT DEAL to reserve the stalls you need at 605-280-9775. These are non-transferrable and only for those horses needed for your State Finals event qualifications.

- Other than the statement above – there are NO RESERVED STALLS - A stall tag for each stall will be provided to you at check in, put your

cell phone contact number on it, in case something should happen to your horse when you are not there.

- The Host Committee will provide enough stalls for the horses the contestants are using in the State Finals Rodeo.

- No padlocking stalls ahead of time to reserve them, the padlock will be cut.

- If you are having trouble finding stalls call Scott Deal (605)280-9775.

Hello participants and welcome to Fort Pierre, South Dakota! We would like to just give you a bit of information on the camper area for the Finals this year.

We have added additional camping sites at the Stanley County Fairgrounds and are excited to offer 66 Camping Sites available for reservation. 50 of the sites offer an electrical hook-up only. They are $200.00 for the week for each hook-up. 16 of the sites will be full hook ups offering water, electric and sewer. They are $300.00 for the week for each hook-up. There are showers and bathrooms close to the camping area and in the Expo Center. The sites will be numbered and will be assigned to everyone in the order of call/payment. This will make it less difficult for those involved.

You may move in beginning Monday, June 15th. You will need to stop at the rodeo office for directions to your reserved site. There will be no refunds if you choose to leave early. If you choose to give your spot to someone else, that will be done between the two parties. The Host Committee will only take the one reservation for each site.

We will start taking reservations on April 15th, 2020 and they will close on May 15th, 2020. There will be a waiting list for those that don’t get a spot, so please if you know you can’t make it, call us immediately so we can offer others a spot. The only refunds will be if the contestant does not qualify for State Finals, or if State Finals are not held.

Reservations will be considered reserved upon payment submittal.

To make reservations you may call 605-280-9775 between the hours of 6:00PM and 8:00PM CST. Payments will be made to the Stanley County Fairgrounds and mailed to: Scott Deal 117 E 6th Avenue, Fort Pierre, SD 57532.

South Dakota High School Rodeo Association State Finals

and Regional Qualifying Rodeos

COVID-19 Guidelines

We are asking that all spectators and contestants follow the guidelines:

If you are not comfortable attending the event, PLEASE do not come!

If you are not feeling well or are feeling sick, we ask that you DO NOT attend the rodeo.

Concessions will be provided and we ask that people PLEASE follow the 6 foot distancing guidelines that will be marked by cones or tape marks.

Follow individual vendor’s guidelines.

PLEASE allow distancing when parking.

Practice social distancing, as you feel necessary, at all times and in the seating areas.

We are asking that contestants DO NOT congregate by any of the arena gates, or on the Bucking Chutes.

Rough Stock, Timed Event and Reined Cow Horse Contestants will be allowed NO MORE than 2 helpers.

There will be 6ft guidelines marked on the floor for Registration, follow and watch closely. Bring exact payment for registration (for state only). Only the contestant will be allowed to be at registration, no additional people.

A SDHSRA COVID-19 and a photography waiver is required to be signed to compete. If both are not signed and submitted, the contestant will not be able to compete. Bring them completed to registration.

Hand sanitizing stations will be distributed throughout the area.

Bathrooms and surfaces will be sanitized on a scheduled basis.

The Host Committee/Directors have the right to ask anyone to leave the grounds that is not complying with any of the guidelines put into place.

By everyone doing their part and following the guidelines set in place we are able to put on this rodeo for our High School Athletes.

Shooting Sports Contest SDHSRA 2020 There will be the Qualifying shoot to qualify to compete at Nationals on Wednesday, June 17th, beginning at 1:00 pm, meet by the office at 12:30 and you will carpool out to the shooting site(Willow Creek Wildlife, Inc.). Register at the rodeo contestant check-in or office prior to this time. There is a $20.00 event fee for the shooting competition.

*If you have not competed in the rodeo events at a Regional Rodeo you are required to turn in: properly and completely signed 1. COVID Release Form, 2. Photography Release Form, 3. Stanley County Waiver, 4. Year End Report Card. Forms are in the contestant qualifier informational packet.

*-register Tuesday during registration or at 12:00 Wednesday by the rodeo office under the grandstands

*If you know you will be competing in the Shoot, email [email protected] with your Name, which discipline you will be shooting in and your cell phone number and she will sign you up for the shoot.

*You must wear jeans and back number, no open toe shoes allowed.

* Sign up ahead of time in the Rodeo Office at the Stanley County Fairgrounds if you have not emailed [email protected] prior to the contest day.

*If you have not competed in another event at the Regional Qualifying rodeos, bring your year-end report card – it will be kept. Bring this to rodeo check-in before the event and you will receive your State Finals Back number.

You are encouraged to bring your own shotgun or rifle, but it is not absolutely necessary.

You may shoot rifle and/or trap.

You will want to bring bug spray and sunscreen to the shoot.

Top 4 Qualifiers have the option of competing at Nationals in Guthrie, Oklahoma July 17-23, and you must attend the National Qualifier Meeting on Sunday June 21st at the Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center, if you are going to compete.
