The Meetings Industry Association’s (mia) prestigious miaList was announced on Monday 28 September during a

celebratory lunch at the Park Plaza Riverbank hotel, London.

A total of 9 industry stars, one team and one Leadership Award nominee have earnt their place on the miaList 2015

for their commitment and hard work in the industry. Jane Longhurst, chief executive of the mia welcomed more than

250 guests to the ceremony, “Thank you to all of you for coming to this fabulous venue to recognise the exceptional

individuals that make this industry special. The high calibre of individuals nominated this year has meant it has been

exceptionally difficult for the judges.”span>

Jane welcomed Steve Knight, director of The Meetings Show, who sponsored the event, and Andrew Mosley, chairman of the

mia, to the stage to welcome the stars on to the miaList 2015 and honour their achievement with a glass trophy.

Those recognised on the miaList 2015 are:

• Front of House category: Olivier Nanchi, Front of House Manager, EEF Venues - Engineers House

• Support category: Davide Graziano, HR & Training Coordinator, Wyboston Lakes

• Food & Beverage category: Tom Gore, Executive Chef, The Brewery

• Sales & Marketing category: Sales – Naomi Phillips, Group Sales Director, Classic Lodges

• Sales & Marketing category: Marketing - Maria Schuett, Head of Marketing, Central Hall Westminster

• Conference & Events People category: Toni Mountford, Corporate Sales & Events Team Leader, Alton Towers

• Conference & Events People category: Rob Brumell, Conference & Events Operations Manager, Twickenham

• Rising Star category: Hollie Dann, Assistant Conference Co-ordinator, Foresight Centre

• Team Award: Bovey Castle – Events Team

• Leadership Award: Mark Taylor, Chief Executive Officer, QEII Centre

• Industry’s Most Inspiring Individual: Kevin Beckett, Commis Chef, Robinson College

When asked how it felt to be recognised as the industry’s most inspiring individual, Kevin Beckett, commis chef at Robinson College said, “It’s truly amazing. I’m 51 years old

and it doesn’t get much better than this. You are never too old to learn and never too old to achieve.”

Due to the incredibly high standard of nominations received, a number of shortlisted individuals received special recognition:

• Martin Miller, Business Analyst, Leicester Conferences

• Kim Usher, Food & Beverage Team Member, Holiday Inn Maidenhead/Windsor

• Paul Foster, Head Chef, Mallory Court Hotel

• Simon Timmis, Senior Marketing Manager, IET Head Office

• Gemma Gore, Conferencing & Events Officer, Leeds Beckett University

• Craig Fraser, Conference & Events Operations Manager, Whittlebury Hall Hotel & Spa

Entertainment was provided by magicians from Yes Entertainment and the Urban Soul Orchestra.

Alton Towers Resort has announced that Toni Mountford, Corporate Sales & Events Team Leader for the Resort has been

selected for the prestigious Meetings Industry Association List in the ‘Excellence in Conference & Events People’ category. The

final miaList 2015 was announced at Park Plaza Riverbank on Monday 28th September

The miaList is a celebration of industry people. Originally created by the mia to mark its 21st anniversary, it is now a landmark annual

industry event supported by The Meetings Show UK.

Toni, who joined the Alton Towers Resort team in 2007 said, ‘It means a lot to me that my creativity, enthusiasm and passion for Alton Towers

Resort shines through. From a business point of view contracting three theme park buyouts in one week was a real highlight, bringing at least

15,000 guests on to the park over one week out of season was a massive achievement for our team’.

Ellie Jones, Business Development Manager, Alton Towers Resort who nominated Toni said, ‘The words ‘no’ or ‘unachievable’ are not in

Toni’s vocabulary. She’s the first to come up with solutions’.

London's Church House to host AssociationMeetings Conference 2016

Church House Conference Centre in London will host the fourth edition of the Association Meetings

Conference in June next year.

The Meetings Show's event director, Steve Knight

The event is designed to address the specific needs of UK and international association meeting and event

planners, PCOs and AMCs, and has grown year-on-year since it was launched in 2013. This year, the

conference attracted 98 association professionals, a 49% increase from the previous year.

The Association Meetings Conference will be held on 13 June, the night before The Meetings Show kicks off

at Olympia Grand.

Steve Knight, event director of The Meetings Show, said: "The QEII Centre, our previous venue, has been a

great partner and supporter and we would like to thank them for being part of its success. Church House

Conference Centre provides us with an equally impressive setting right in the heart of Westminster; it has

extensive experience of the Association market and perfectly balances a historic setting with high-end,

modern facilities and we look forward to working alongside them as we seek to attract even more association

professionals to attend the event."

Church House Conference Centre, London, will provide the backdrop for the fourth edition of the Association Meetings Conference on 13 June, 2016.

The event is crafted to address the specific needs of UK and international association meeting and event planners, PCOs and AMCs and has grown year on

year since it was launched in 2013. This year the conference attracted 98 association professionals – an increase of 49% on the previous year.

The move to Church House Conference Centre, located in the heart of Westminster, coincides with the new dates and relocation of The Meetings Show, which will be held at

Olympia Grand from 14-16 June, 2016.

The Association Meetings Conference is held on the eve of The Meetings Show with content created by Linda Pereira, Conference Chair and Executive Director, CPL

Events.

Steve Knight, Event Director of The Meetings Show, comments: “The Association Meetings Conference provides association professionals with targeted educational content

Church House will host the 2016 edition of the

Association Meetings Conference

The Association Meetings Conference is set to move to Church House

Conference Centre next year.

The fourth edition of the Association Meetings Conference will take

place on 13 June, 2016. The move coincides with the new dates and

relocation of The Meetings Show, which will be held at Olympia Grand

from 14-16 June, 2016.

The event, aimed at association meeting and event planners, has

grown year on year since it was launched in 2013. This year the

conference attracted 98 association professionals – an increase of 49

per cent on the previous year. Its content is created by Linda Pereira,

conference chair and executive director at CPL Events.
