Many staff are leaving us at the end of 2020 to retire, take extended leave or take up roles in other schools. I would like to thank Judith Wymark, Laura Andrikidis, Shaun Izzard, Ben Fiene, Anthony Chittick, Tom Steadman, Max McKay, JP Grant, Ben Maher, Rhonda Anderson, Tracey Stalker and Marianne McDonald for all their work at the school. What a year! We thank and congratulate you on making it to this huge milestone. You are already a quarter of the way through your HSC year and the next part is going to fly. We can’t wait to see you all achieving your goals and forging your future paths. We kicked off the last week of the year with a great excursion to Aqua Park at Gosford Waterfront. It was a fantastic way to spend the day and everyone who went had an absolute blast! There was plenty of carnage, bruises and ‘accidental’ shoves into the water, and more than a few sore muscles the next day. Check out some of the snaps we were able to get when we weren’t jumping off huge slides. We send a huge thank you to everyone that participated and are choosing to make the most of their time at The Entrance. We hope to organise a few more year group excursions in 2021 and it would be great to see more of the year group making some memories with us! Make sure you enjoy some time off over the summer break, but it is also a great time to create some revision notes of the content you’ve already learned in Year 12. By the time it gets to September, you’ll wish you’d done it now! Most importantly, have a safe and happy Christmas spent with your family and friends, whether it is in person or virtually. We look forward to seeing you all back next year for the final countdown! Your Year Advisors, Mrs Romano, Mr Cotterill and Miss Nichols.

Year 12 Retail Work Placement in Week 6 Three students from Year 12 Retail completed very successful work placements in week 6 this Term. Owen went to the Reject Shop at Erina Fair, Sarah-Star worked at Bohemian Traders also at Erina and Sarah worked at Terry White’s chemist in Westfields at Tuggerah. All their employers were impressed with their work ethic and skills they demonstrated and all three students were wonderful ambassadors to the Entrance Campus. They were lucky enough to be able to complete their work placements this year. I would like to thank the employers for taking the time in this difficult year to help our students complete a component of their Vocational Education course.

As part of Year 12 2021 a new course was introduced, it is a Cert ll in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways. The qualification has students partake in Project Based Learning throughout the year to become competent in the language, literacy and numeracy skills required in the workplace. Miss Nichols’ Tailored class have created the No Doze Café! They created advertisements, menus, price lists and a roster for their grand opening on the 8

December where they made and served café beverages to students and staff. The class had a successful day and were very thankful for the support of all the customers. Check out a few photos of the group in action and keep an eye out for the café in Term one where we’ll be branching out with our cooking skills!

PDHPE Faculty Year 12 PDHPE - Sports Medicine This term Year 12 have started their studies for the HSC in PDHPE. The first unit of work is Option 3 - Sports Medicine. Students have learnt how to classify and manage injuries, as well as how injury rehabilitation is managed. Recently they have looked at how preventative actions can enhance the wellbeing of athletes and specifically what role taping and bandaging can play. Part of this is to learn some preventative taping techniques such as how to tape an ankle, wrist and thumb. Below are some pictures of their efforts in class. Mr Brand HT PDHPE

Year 12 Community and Family Studies - Independent Research Project (IRP) The Year 12 CAFS students have been working on their Independent Research Projects this term and have recently submitted their first assessment task. To lead us into the summer holidays and to get us into the Christmas spirit, they have hand made gift tags and cards as donations for local charities. Some of their work can be seen in the pictures below. Mrs Kennedy CAFS Teacher
