CLEAN ENERGY DC

OMNIBUS AMENDMENT

ACT OF 2018, TITLE III….

@DOEE_DC #BEPSDC

The Clean and Affordable Energy Act of 2008 requires all private

buildings >50,000 square feet to report their annual energy and water

use for public disclosure.

The Act requires all District-owned buildings >10,000 square feet to

report their annual energy use for public disclosure.

The annual reporting deadline is April 1.

DOEE must establish a minimum threshold for energy performance –

will be “no lower than” the local median ENERGY STAR score by

property type (or equivalent metric)

WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW

• Double-check your benchmarking data

• Compare 2019 scores to the 2018 median for your property type to

get a sense of how your building is performing

• Get an on-site energy audit to understand building characteristics,

equipment, and energy use

• Identify energy conservation measures

• Engage with building tenants

• Create an internal team to start aligning energy actions

• Develop a strategic energy management plan

@DOEE_DC #BEPSDC

21% reduction in source energy if all

buildings meet the standard for their

type and size subgroup.

• 18.7% from buildings over 50K sf

• 1.4% from 25K-50K sf buildings

• 1% from 10K-25K sf buildings
