Tips for How to Get a Better Night's Sleep There's nothing better than when you wake up and you actually feel refreshed. You know you slept well and that will influence your entire day for the better. However, how many times have you awakened to realize that you still feel tired, even after getting what you thought was enough sleep? The following tips will (hopefully) help you to achieve a better night’s sleep. Before you go to sleep, try to relax and stop stressing. Sure it's easier said than done, but you lose nothing by trying. Think about it. During the day you have stressful moments. You feel tense, therefore you're not relaxed. If stress isn't good for you while you're awake, it's definitely not going to have a positive influence on your sleep. Before you go to sleep, do some deep breathing. Let all that stress go. Tomorrow is another day and you can deal with it then. In the meantime, you need a restful night’s sleep in order to be able to deal with tomorrow. Keeping your room dark can help you to sleep. Make sure to have curtains and blinds that will keep out any outside light. If that still isn't enough, then use a sleep mask. Some masks are incredibly comfortable and you feel as though you aren't wearing one at all. If you have to get up during the night, turning on a bright, overhead light can cause you to have problems going back to sleep. Instead of using a big and bright light, keep a small, low wattage lamp in your bedroom to use instead. In the bathroom, have a nightlight to avoid having to turn that bright light on as well. Make sure you have a clean and clutter free room when you are ready to go to sleep. Your bedroom is supposed to be your sanctuary not your storage unit. Knowing you have clutter around your bedroom could cause you tension, which doesn't help you sleep. If the room isn't neat, take the cluttered items out of the room until tomorrow. Don't have stressful conversations before or in bed. When you discuss certain issues, it brings on stress and disrupts your sleep. If these discussions have to be had, do it during the day or earlier in the evening so you have time to process the discussion, think whatever thoughts you need to have on the subject and not take those issues to bed with you. Again, the bedroom is your sanctuary and therefore, all stress should be left out of it. Have a to-do list for the next day and do some of the tasks the night before. During the evening, get your clothes ready for the next day. If your kids have school, make sure that they have their homework done and backpacks all packed and by the door. Any lunches that need to be brought, make them the night before instead of in the morning to be taken for that day. Some people have a habit of drifting off to sleep thinking about what they should wear the next morning, what lunch they should make, and if they're going to have a problem finding their kids shoes. If these tasks that need to be done every day are done the day before, it leaves room for you to fall asleep without these thoughts on your mind.

Don't sleep with your pet on your bed. Yes the full of love, fuzzy pet is cute and adorable and you want it to sleep with you. However, an animal doesn't know, nor does it care, when it steps all over you, shoves you when they stretch, takes up the entire bed or falls asleep half on you and half on the bed. They sleep just fine either way. You, on the other hand, have to get up in the morning and get things done. Your pet will still love you in the morning if they sleep on the floor right next to your bed. Sleep is important. We can't live without it and we need enough of it in order for our brain to work properly. Little changes can make your sleep better than ever.
