Ideas about IBL…
• Open the envelope on your desk;• In your groups, discuss the statements
it contains;• Arrange them in the order with which
you agree with them; and• Be prepared to feedback on some of
your discussions.
…an exercise to get you discussing what IBL is, and what it might mean for you
The TILL-CILASS project
What we want to do is: • enhance and embed inquiry-based learning in the
wide range of TILL’s activities.
We want to do it by:• sharing the IBL-influenced learning and teaching
we already do;• supporting and developing that good practice;
and • developing new ideas for learning and teaching
together.
IBL-enhanced modules in 08/09
• Geology of the British Landscape• Introduction to Local Studies• Archaeology of Death, Burial and
Ritual• Investigating Contemporary French
Texts• Landscape Mapping in Archaeology
New TILL IBL modules
In 08/09• Constructing an Exhibition (Level
Two)
In 09/10• Perspectives in Digital Culture (Level
Three)
The TILL staff-student module development panel
• Consisting of (around) 6 students and 6 hourly-paid tutors;
• Commenting on and informing the amendment and development of IBL modules in TILL;
• A great opportunity to contribute to the module development process, and to have a greater say in what TILL does.
Technology and IBL
In your small groups:• Decide what questions you want to ask
about IBL and technology; and• Record those on a whiteboard.
• Pass the whiteboard to another group; and
• Sketch out some answers to one another’s questions.
