may the Lord of Life be always with you. A. – And with your spirit. LIGHTING OF THE PASCHAL CANDLE Raymond Sorgetti C. – In baptism our brother, Tom received the light of Christ. This Light has guided him through life. A. – May it now lead him into eternal life and peace. SPRINKLING WITH HOLY WATER C. – On the day of his baptism Tom died with Christ and rose

PLACING OF THE PALL Phil & Len Sorgetti C. – On the day of his baptism, Tom was clothed in Christ. By

his word and example, he has lived with Christian dignity. May Christ now enfold him in His love, and bring him to eternal life.

A. – God to enfold me, God to surround me. OPENING PRAYER C. – O God, to whom mercy and forgiveness belong, hear our

prayers on behalf of your child Tom, whom you have called out of this world to yourself; and because he placed his hope and trust in you, command that he may be carried safely home to heaven and come to enjoy your eternal reward. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

A. – Amen.

WORDS OF REMEMBRANCE Len Sorgetti

LITURGY OF THE WORD READING (Timothy 4:6-8) Phil Sorgetti Reading from the 2nd letter of St Paul to Timothy. As for me the time is here for me to leave this life. I have done my best in this race. I have run the full distance and I have kept the faith. And now there is waiting for me the prize of victory awarded for a righteous life, the prize which the Lord, the righteous judge will give me on that day — and not only me, but to all those who wait with love for that time to appear. And the Lord will rescue them from all evil, and take me safely into his heavenly Kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. The Word of the Lord. A. – Thanks be to God. RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Psalm 23) The Lord is My Shepherd (Crimond) Sung ACCLAMATION (John 14: 1-6) (Please stand) A. – Alleluia, Alleluia! Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth

and Life. Whoever believes in me lives forever.” Alleluia!

GOSPEL (John 14: 1-6) C. – The Lord be with you. A. – And with your spirit. C. – A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. A. – Glory to you, O Lord. Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled; trust in God still, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house; if there were not, I should have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me; so that where I am, you may be too. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said: “Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus said: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” The Gospel of the Lord. A. – Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. HOMILY

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL Raymond Sorgetti C. – God, the Almighty Father, raised Jesus his Son from the

dead; with confidence we ask Him to save all His people, living and dead.

R. – Tom was given the promise of eternal life in baptism. Lord

give him communion with your saints forever. We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer. R. – We pray for Tom’s deceased family: His parents, Angelina

and Rosevaldo and other family members who have passed away.

We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer. R. – God of love and mercy, give us the certainty that beyond

death there is life, where broken things are mended, lost things are found, where there is rest for the weary, joy for the sad and life for the dead.

We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer. R. – We pray for God’s blessing on all of us who have gathered

here today. We pray to the Lord. A. – Lord, hear our prayer.

C. – God our shelter and our strength, you listen in love to the prayers of your people; hear the prayers we offer for Tom and for all our relatives and friends who have died. Grant them the fullness of your life. We ask you this through Christ our Lord.

A. – Amen. LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST PROCESSION OF GIFTS TO THE ALTAR Florence & Raymond Sorgetti HYMN FOR THE PREPARATION OF GIFTS Amazing Grace PRAYER OVER GIFTS C. – Lord, we are united in this sacrament by the love of Jesus

Christ. Accept these gifts and receive Tom into the glory of your Son, who is Lord forever and ever.

A. – Amen. PREFACE C. – The Lord be with you. A. – And with your spirit.

C. – Lift up your hearts. A. – We lift them up to the Lord. C. – Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. A. – It is right and just. C. – It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation,

always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

In him the hope of resurrection has dawned, that those

saddened by the certainty of dying, might be consoled by the promise of immortality to come.

Indeed for your faithful, Lord, life is changed, not ended, and, when this earthly dwelling turns to dust, an eternal dwelling is made ready for them in heaven. And so, with Angels and Archangels, and with all the hosts and powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim:

A. – Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.

Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II (Please kneel or sit) C. – The mystery of faith. A. – When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim

your death, O Lord, until you come again. C. – At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine

teaching, we dare to say: Together with the people, he continues:

A. – Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

C. – Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously

grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

A. – For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.

SIGN OF PEACE C. – Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I

leave you, my peace I give you; look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her

peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever.

A. – Amen. C. – The peace of the Lord be with you always. A. – And with your spirit. C. – Let us offer each other the sign of peace. BREAKING OF BREAD A. – Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,

have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

COMMUNION C. – Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the

sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

A. – Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

COMMUNION HYMN Ave Maria SLIDE PRESENTATION OF TOM’S LIFE The Carnival Is Over – The Seekers

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION C. – Let us pray. Lord God, whose Son left us, in the Sacrament

of His Body, food for the journey, mercifully grant that, strengthened by it, our brother Tom, may come to the eternal table of Christ. Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.

A. – Amen. FINAL COMMENDATION & FAREWELL C. – Before we go our separate ways, we must take leave of our

brother Tom, may our farewell express our affection for him; may it ease our sadness and strengthen our hope. One day we shall joyfully greet him again when the love of Christ, which conquers all things, destroys even death itself.

Trusting in God, we have prayed together for Tom and

now we come to the last farewell. There is sadness in parting, but we take comfort in the hope that one day we shall see Tom again and enjoy his friendship in the everlasting joy of God’s Kingdom. Therefore, let us console one another in the faith of Jesus Christ.

(All pray in silence as Tom’s body is sprinkled with Holy Water and incensed to remind us that through Baptism, he became a child of God, a temple of the Holy Spirit and an heir to heaven).

C. – Saints of God, come to his aid! Hasten to meet him, angels

of the Lord. A. – Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High.

C. – May Christ, who called you, take you to himself; may angels lead you to the bosom of Abraham.

A. – Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High. C. – Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light

shine upon him. A. – Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High. C. – Into your hands, Father of mercies, we commend our

brother, Tom in the sure and certain hope that, together with all who have died in Christ, he will rise with him on the last day. We give thanks for the blessings, which you bestowed on him in this life; they are the signs to us of your goodness and of our fellowship with the saints in Christ. Merciful Lord, turn towards us and listen to our prayers: open the gates of paradise to your child, Tom, and help us who remain to comfort one another with the assurances of our faith, until we meet in Christ and are with you and Tom forever.

A. – Amen. C. – The Lord be with you. A. – And with your spirit. C. – May Almighty God bless you, the Father, the Son and the

Holy Spirit. A. – Amen. RECESSIONAL SONG The Prayer
