Message from the Head Teacher An exciting week in the academy, especially for Mr Lee in Music, who rushed home on Tuesday morning to the arrival of a new baby in the family. Our thoughts and best wishes go to the whole family, who I am told are doing brilliantly. Its a time for celebration as we launch our all new Celebration Assemblies. Due to next Fridays INSET day we started this Friday with Year 7, where we celebrated a huge range of successes across the academy with students claiming some highly sought after prizes. The thought for the week this week has been Being Reflective’, so we have reflected on the fact that We only get to do it oncein assembly and should therefore do it well! Good luck to our talented girl Computer Scientists who are off to compete in the CyberFirst competition this weekend. Thanks in advance to Mr Whelan and Mr Keegan for giving up their Saturday to support this. Mr Crisp took a talented group of footballers to Torquay on Thursday where they took part in the regional finals, which is a huge achievement. And well done to our fantastic Drama department who did a mini showcase of their GCSE pieces for parents last Tuesday evening. Message from the Head Teacher

An exciting week in the academy, especially for Mr Lee in Music, who rushed home on Tuesday morning to the arrival of a new baby in the family. Our thoughts and best wishes go to the whole family, who I am told are doing brilliantly. It’s a time for celebration as we launch our all new Celebration Assemblies. Due to next Friday’s INSET day we started this Friday with Year 7, where we celebrated a huge range of successes across the academy with students claiming some highly sought after prizes. The thought for the week this week has been ‘Being Reflective’, so we have reflected on the fact that ‘We only get to do it once’ in assembly and should therefore do it well! And well done to our fantastic Drama department who did a mini showcase of their GCSE pieces for parents last Tuesday evening.

by Scott Westerfield

Tally is about to turn sixteen, and she can't wait. In

just a few weeks she'll have the operation that will

turn her from a repellent ugly into a stunning pretty.

And as a pretty, she'll be catapulted into a high-tech

paradise where her only job is to have fun.

But Tally's new friend Shay isn't sure she wants to

become a pretty. When Shay runs away, Tally learns

about a whole new side of the pretty world-- and it

isn't very pretty. The authorities offer Tally a choice:

find her friend and turn her in, or never turn pretty at

all. Tally's choice will change her world forever...

Student Review Of The Week

This past week has been fun in all of my lessons, they have been interesting and fun. In

English it has been fun because it has tied in other lessons such as history. Also in PE it

has been fun, and a bit of a challenge, but I have been resilient and have persevered

through. The homework has also been fun because it has taught me new skills.
