TU PALABRA ME ILUMINA

Hna. Fidela Lucio, HMSP

YOUR WORD ILLUMINATES ME Luke is an excellent eyewitness. He did not know Jesus personally, but he was nourished by the experiences of Peter and then by living and sharing with Paul. Today, like yesterday, the Church needs witnesses, people who not only like to hear testimonies, but who give testimony with their own lives as fathers and mothers, as sons and daughters, as husbands and wives, as professionals and workers. That testimony must communicate the truth, that is, Jesus and his message of conversion to all. The mission of Jesus is to give good news to the poor, free the prisoners and give sight to the blind. That is also the witness's mission, to continue with his mission, being good news for the poor, freeing the prisoners and giving sight to the blind. It must be first in the midst of his family, friends and relatives. You have to be a light in the home to be able to be a light in the street. Sr. Fidela Lucio, HMSP

“Since many have undertaken to compile a narrave of the events that have been

fulfilled among us, just as those who were eyewitnesses from the beginning and

ministers of the word have handed them down to us, I too have decided, aer

invesgang everything accurately anew, to write it down in an orderly sequence for

you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may realize the certainty of the teachings

you have received.” …Lk 1:1-4, 4:14-21

.. Lc 1,1-4; 4,14-21

“I AM THE SERVANT OF THE LORD. MAY IT BE DONE TO ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD” (Lk 1:38)

Merciful Father, You call us to live our lives as a way of salva.on. Help us to recall the past with gra.tude, to embrace the present with courage, and to build the future with hope.

Lord Jesus, our friend and brother, thank you for looking upon us with love. Let us listen to your voice as it resonates in the hearts of each one with the light and strength of the Holy Spirit.

Grant us the grace to be a Church that goes forth with vibrant faith and a youthful face to announce the joy of the Gospel. May we help to build the society we long for, full of jus.ce and fraternal love.

We pray for the Pope and the bishops, for priests and deacons, for those in consecrated life, for volunteers, for young people, and all who will par.cipate in the

upcoming World Youth Day in Panama, and for those who are preparing to receive them.

Our Lady of An.gua, Patroness of Panama, help us to pray and live generously like you: “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk 1:38). Amen.

«HE AQUÍ LA SIERVA DEL SEÑOR; HÁGASE EN MÍ SEGÚN TU PALABRA» (Lc 1,38)

In 1815 he was born in Piedmont (Italy). At sixteen, he entered the seminary in Chieri and was so poor that he had to beg for money and essen.al clothes. AOer receiving the diaconate, John Bosco went to the major seminary in Turin and there he began, with the approval of his superiors, to gather every Sunday a group of abandoned children of the city in a kind of school and place of recrea.on at which he called "Fes.ve Oratory".

The first place that John Bosco occupied was that of auxiliary chaplain in a house of refuge for girls, which had founded the Marquesa di Barola. Some.me later, he finished a night school and he began to give shelter to abandoned children. He soon decided to build their own learning workshops. The first two were inaugurated in 1853. In 1856, there were already 150 inmates, four workshops, a prin.ng press, four La.n classes and ten priests. The outsiders were 500 in December 1859.

The Salesian ins.tu.ons today include primary and secondary schools, seminars, adult schools, technical and agricultural schools, prin.ng and book shops, hospitals, etc. without omi^ng the missions and pastoral work.

John Bosco died on January 31, 1888. His canoniza.on took place in 1934.
