naham Welcomes you to our 38th annual educational conference & exposition!Thank you for joining us for this year’s conference—Patient Access: The Helm of the Revenue Cycle! During the next few days, you will have the chance to experience the premier educational event of its kind, and we are delighted that you made the decision to invest in yourself and your facility. We hope you’ll take every opportunity to develop your knowledge of key issues and trends that will make your hospital more effective and efficient.

Maximize your experience by participating in all that the conference has to offer, including our dynamic, topical, and educational keynote presentations from Ian Morrison and Joe Tye! In addition, we are pleased to offer you a selection of Learning Labs presented by guest speakers and Patient Access Services professionals from across the nation. These sessions will address critical issues in Patient Access Services and will help you drive improvements in your department and grow as a professional in your field.

Since you can’t attend all of the sessions, Learning Lab presentations will remain available to download from the NAHAM website at www.naham.org/conference until July 1, 2012.

The Industry-Sponsored Symposia are again scheduled so as to not compete with Learning Labs or other conference events, and are excellent opportunities for you to learn about the latest products and services for your workplace. Be sure to attend these informative forums; breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided, and space is limited. Be sure to arrive early!

In addition, plan time to meet with more than 55 exhibiting companies in the Access Solutions Marketplace located in the Douglas Pavilion on the Manchester Grand Hyatt’s first level, right behind the hotel check-in desk. The Marketplace offers you the opportunity to find new and innovative solutions to your workplace challenges. It also is the location of our Opening Welcome Reception on Wednesday, May 9. Remember to bring your business cards and check-off card when you meet with exhibitors, and have it initialed by our exhibiting Business Partner members to be eligible for cash drawings on Friday morning. Some exhibitors also will be raffling great prizes of their own in the Access Solutions Marketplace. You must have your card checked by these companies in order to win their prizes.

We encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities at our conference this year—participate in sessions, build your network of colleagues, and record new ideas and innovative processes to share with your staff back home.

Thank you for joining us in San Diego. I hope that you leave this year’s conference informed, empowered, and ready to position your Patient Access Services department at the Helm of the Revenue Cycle!

Enjoy the conference!

Scripps Health will discuss how they successfully deployed PatientSecure with a high level of patient acceptance.

In 2010, Lowell General Hospital (LGH) recognized a problem with its manual, paper-driven approach to managing revenue cycle activity. The volume and complexity of communication made it nearly impossible for staff to locate information when it was needed. This led to scheduling delays, customer service concerns, and insurance denials. LGH now uses Trace to manage revenue cycle activity through a seamless, paperless process. Outcomes include reduced denials, improved customer service, and greater efficiency across the revenue cycle.
