•A club that creates a SAFE, ACCEPTING, SOCIALenvironment that is typical of high school students for students with special needs. •The purpose of BBC is to develop long lasting

friendshipsbetween exceptional students.

EXCEPTIONAL is defined as being a compassionate, loving, and loyal friend.

WHAT WE’RE ALL ABOUT

Little Buddies are paired with a big buddy. Every month we have socials that allow you to get to know them better and just have fun with the other members of

the club. The socials give the kids opportunities to interact with

other students and make friends.

Responsibilities of Membership

All Members*attend social events to help create the atmosphere of a typical social environment

*attend monthly meetingsBig Buddies* Visit in the AM or eat lunch with your little buddy 1 time a week*attend all events with your little buddy

IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND THE MONTHLY MEETING, YOU MAY NOT ATTEND THE SOCIAL!

As a big buddy, you are matched with a little buddy. As their big buddy, you develop a personal relationship with them. You will need to visit your buddy, and try to attend every social so you can

be there for your buddy.

BIG BUDDIES

Service Projects• HMUMC special needs services at 11:00 AM

• Special Olympics Events and Unified Partners

• Special Olympics Fundraisers

• Spread the Word to End the Word (March)

•By invitation: Opportunity to work with the community. • By Invitation Only: Hosting Special Olympics Track and Field for Elementary Students

• Presides over meetings of the organization �

• Calls special meetings of the organization �

• Maintains contact with teacher sponsor

• Represents the organization to the school

• Serves as a spokesperson for the organization

• Assists all executive officers Provides follow‐�up to organizational tasks � �

• Represents organization at official functions �

• Remains fair and impartial during organization decision making processes

• Provides encouragement and motivation to fellow officers and organization members

OFFICER POSITIONS: PRESIDENT

• Assumes the duties of the President in his or her �absence

• Serves as an ex‐officio member of standing committees• Organizes an end‐of‐year celebration• Represents organization at official functions• Remains fair and impartial during organizational

decision making processes• Performs other duties as directed by the President or

teacher sponsors

OFFICER POSITION: VICE PRESIDENT

• Obtains appropriate facilities for organization activities �

• Keeps a record of all members of the organization �

• Keeps a record of all activities of the organization �

• Prepares an agenda with the President for all meetings �

• Notifies all members of meetings �• Prepares organization's calendar of

events �• Keeps the organization informed of

both organizational and university business �

• Keeps and distributes minutes of each meeting of the organization �

• Creates and distributes agendas for each meeting of the organization

• Maintains attendance at all meetings• Serve as the organization’s

recognition and appreciation coordinator �

• Maintains organizational records, storage, and office �

• Handles all official correspondence of the organization �

• Represents organization at official �functions �

• Remains fair and impartial during organization decision making process

• Performs other duties as directed by the President and teacher sponsor
