Summary The organic development of the industry developed in Europe over the last 16 years resulted in a surprising diversity in the manufacturing processes, products and market strategies.
q Plant capacities vary from less than 3,000 m3 to 60,000 m3 per shift (50% below 10,000 m3)
q Owners: from family enterprises to international holdings
q Manufacturing processes and levels of automation vary greatly
q Press types and sizes vary greatly (no size standard):
q Vacuum (25%), Hydraulic/Pneumatic (61% including 3 systems with RF)
q Widths from up to 4 m (4’ to 13’)
q Lengths from up to 20 m (15’ to 65’)
q Adhesive systems: PUR (59%) & MUF (22% incl. 3 cured with RF)
q Layer thickness varies from 1cm to 10 cm (roughly .2” to 4”)
