The European Day of Languages –26th September.All departments are invited to contribute by planning a link e.g. bell task linked to Spain/ another European country.

English grammar will be taught twice a week throughout the Year 7 course which will link in with the Spanish study of grammar. References will be made to the English and Spanish book covers for terminology.

Maths curriculum – numeracy tasks are included in lessons where pupils work with numbers 1-100 (simple addition, subtraction, multiplication etc.).

PSHE & British Values: Pupils are given a brief overview of the history of the colonisation of America by Spain and their role in slavery in Latin American countries. Links to British role in slavery.

History – pupils study the Trans-Atlantic slave trade in year 8 autumn 2, which is clearly linked to Spain’s role in the colonisation of South American countries.

PSHE programme will link in with developing a sense of personal identify in terms of students embarking on their KS3 education. A range of adjectives linked to the conditional tense to describe the ideal student.

In Food & nutrition year 7 rotation students study diets in different countries including the seasonality of food which links with the study of the Mediterranean diet. They also study food measurements.Students also study menus in Art in Year 8.

In Year 10 summer 1 Computing, students will use recipes in Spanish to apply algorithms to putting a recipe in order.

In the science year 8 composite 4, pupils will study mass and weight (linked to quantities and ordering food in a market).

In PSHE, Year 7 composite 2 will focus on healthy lifestyles and the role of a healthy diet.

In maths, weight and quantities are studied in Year 8 Autumn 2 - Composite: Ratio & proportion - Component 2: Conversion of measure (graphs) , and Scales.

The geography KS3 curriculum map makes numerous references to the environment: year 7 composite 2 looks at recycling, year 8 composite 6 looks at climate change, year 9 composite 4 looks at traffic and pollution and year 9 composite 6 looks at the environmental effects of litter and festivals.

The science year 8 composite 2 will allow pupils to learn about global warming and the environment.

Food technology- food tasting. Options to be explored for cooking a Spanish dish. Students will have studied a range of different cuisines linked with different countries throughout their study of Food this year.

The geography year 9 composite 6 links directly to the study of festivals and their effect on the environment.
