All the parallel lines meet in the same “point at infinity!”

This is the point of view of projective geometry (at least over thereals).

In a sec we’ll look at an axiomatic approach to projectiveplanes, giving rise to different models that satisfy those axioms.

But first let’s follow up this way of getting the real projectiveplane from the familiar Euclidean plane by adding points atinfinity.
