Rabbi Dr. Daniel Reiser is the director of the Department of Jewish Th ought at Her-zog Academic College and a senior lecturer in the Department of Mysticism and Spiri-tual studies at Zefat Academic College. He received his Semicha from Jerusalem's rab-binical court and his PhD in Jewish Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Rabbi Reiser is the author of fi ve books and several articles (published in Hebrew, Eng-lish and Polish). His Hebrew book Vision as a Mirror (2014) was awarded the World Union of Jewish Studies Matanel Prize for the best book in Jewish Th ought published during the years 2013-2014. Rabbi Reiser lives in Israel, married with 6 children.

Rabbi Lerner—born in London, England—has since lived in Israel, Chicago, and New York, and now serves as the Rabbi of the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates.

Following three years of study at Yeshivat Har Etzion he graduated from Yeshiva University with a BA in English Literature, and went on to receive Semikha from their Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Th eological Seminary. Aft er serving as a Rabbinic Intern for two years at Lincoln Square Synagogue and spending a year as a Tikvah Fellow, he moved to Chicago to pursue graduate studies. Rabbi Lerner received an MA in religion from the University of Chicago’s Divinity School and served as the Orthodox Student Advisor at Hillel on campus. While in Chicago, Rabbi Lerner also served as the Assistant Rabbi of Congregation K.I.N.S. in West Rogers Park.

Rabbi Lerner is currently pursuing his doctorate at the University of Chicago—focusing on the Malbim’s exegetical pedagogy—and serves as a Resident Scholar at Yeshiva University’s Straus Center for Torah and Western Th ought, where he teaches, mentors, researches, and receives continued training from the best writers, thinkers, and speakers.

Rabbi Lerner married Miriam (Weiss) in 2012, having met on a YU Summer Kollel in LA. Miriam earned both a BA and MA in Jewish Education from Yeshiva University, while serv-ing as a Legacy Heritage Foundation Scholar. Together they could not feel more blessed to have Ariella (b. 2016) and Orly (b. 2018) in their lives, and feel truly grateful and inspired to be part of this special community.

Shera Dubitsky holds three masters degrees in clinical, counseling and educational psychology and has completed her clinical training towards a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. She has 30 years experience working with children and families living with trauma. Shera was Director of Support Services at Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting young Jewish women facing breast cancer. Her expertise and primary focus was in speaking with women living with advanced cancer. Shera has served as a consultant for several not-for-profit organizations nationally and in Israel. Shera lectures across the country and in Israel on various topics including life skills, navigating day-to-day experiences, spirituality, and take-aways from her 20 year journey as a baalat tesheuvah. She has a love of humor and integrates her expertise with her comedic style.

The Semichat Chaver Program is an innovative Halacha learning program for working professionals. Through structured shiurim, clear mareh mekomos, and ongoing guidance, participants will master the laws of Bishul B’Shabbos.

Join us as we discuss cutting-edge contemporary Hilchos Shabbos issues. We will be learning through the relevant Gemaros, Rishonim, Shulchan Aruch, and modern-day poskim.
