Stu Finn Commodore 2016-2018
Dear Members,
The fall is coming to an end and
winter will soon be upon us. This was a
rough season for the boating community
due to the weather, although some of our
members had a chance to get out and hit
the high seas despite it. With that being
said, we still had a fun filled year.
The season started off thanks to our
Special Events Committee, Linda Anders,
Patsy Booth, Rita Cohen, and Carol Finn,
with a brunch on the mountaintop of Mt.
Fuji followed by raft ups, potlucks, our
June regatta, a night at the Boulders, La-
bor Day festivities, a fall cruise to Nyack,
Commodore’s Ball and ending finally with
our Holiday Party on December 8, 2018.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone for
their participation and a special thanks to
the officers and board members of the
club for working with me and helping me
through these last two years as commo-
dore.
Wishing you all a Happy Holiday.
Stu

Chuck Booth New Commodore takes the helm
Hi To All My Fellow Yacht Clubbers!
It is with great pride and enthusiasm
that I begin my role as your new
Commodore. Hopefully, we will be able to
recruit more boaters to join us. It’s a
Challenge, but I know we can meet it. Please
contact our Membership Chairman, Rich
Thabit, with any recruitment ideas. We also
need one of our great members to step up to
the role of Rear Commodore. Vice
Commodore Jeff Anders can give you the
lowdown on that position. If the woes of
winter start getting you down, just keep
thinking of the warm sunny breezes and with
any luck low fuel prices in our season ahead.

On Friday September 20,2018 four sailboats, Cloudspin,
Three Sheets, On the Wing, and Cee-Sea, and a powerboat, Fire
Escape, set course for Nyack Yacht Club. Several power boaters
hitched a ride aboard Cee-Sea to see how fast a sailboat can go.
The Nyack boat club launch picked us up for an evening on the
town. Dinner at the Brickhouse was the plan. Once outside the
gates of the yacht club the excitement began. Lo and behold
there were movie trucks set up all along the street. I stopped and
asked what was being filmed and was told it was Showtime ‘s Ray
Donavan. My heart started to pick up speed at the thought of
Liev Schreiber filming close by. I wasn’t prepared for what was
coming. The street we chose to walk on was abustle with action.
As I approached the middle of the block, my heart stopped along
with my feet. Standing in front of me was “Ray.”I didn’t want to
look too excited, but felt it hard to catch my breath as I strug-
gled to stroll past. Visions of him in his black fitted tee shirt
would cloud my head for the rest of the night and weeks to come.
Dinner was fun, but my mind kept drifting back to “Ray”and the
walk back to the club. “Would they still be filming,” kept running
through my mind. Well they were. Once again as we approached
the set, I saw a group of three men standing about. This time it
was Jon Voight ! As I passed by, I managed to sneak out, “Jon I
love your show!” to which he gave me a big smile and said Thank
you ! My night was made! As the boat bounced back and forth
throughout the night visions of Ray and Mickey danced through
my head.
