As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. (EXODUS 17:11-12)

from the ‘normal’ world?

The world of prayer does not “honour” the world of…

• Knowledge

• Speed

• Technology

• Money

• Success

• Politics / Power

Basically, the world of prayer is so UNLIKE our world…

Page 12: The World of Prayer

Prayer, in fact, is very much like Love

Page 13: The World of Prayer

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.Love never fails.”

“I’ve tried praying…but it doesn’t work!”

Exercise a metaphor for Prayer?

• Ad-hoc and occasional workouts won’t produce results

• A great body and health requires consistency, perseverance, healthy eating, discipline, waiting, etc.

• If we complain that “prayer doesn’t work”, do we sound like those who have no discipline with their gym-time and diet YET who declare that “exercise doesn’t work”?!

“I have so much to do today that I should spend the first three

hours in prayer.”
