THE WORKPAPERS

As we embark on our first general meeting of the 2017-2018 chapter year, I am really excited about the educational programs the chapter is offering this year. Our First Vice-President Matt Barth gets primary credit for the exciting speaker line-up this year. He has taken a creative approach to

finding outstanding topics and speakers to better align with the re-sults of our member survey conducted earlier this summer. Check out the Calendar of Events in this issue for more details. In addition to securing our speaker line-up, Matt has managed to keep the costs of these events down to make them more affordable, with each event being offered at either low-cost or no cost.

This year we’re introducing “Audit After Hours”, the brain-child of Ja-mi Shine and Jim Sleezer, which will provide networking opportuni-ties for our chapter outside business hours. Please help me thank them for spear-heading this program for our chapter and watch for details on events to come.

Additionally, we will be offering a one-day seminar in the fall and a two-day seminar in the spring. Each seminar will be led by speakers who have received excellent ratings from attendees. Check out the details on the fall seminar with speaker Danny Goldberg in this issue. We are also planning two opportunities to get additional continuing professional hours immediately following the lunch meetings.

Your chapter leaders believe offering you the opportunity to learn is one of our primary functions. You will see that reflected in this year’s activities. We want to see as many people benefit from the educa-tional offerings of the chapter in our 2017-2018 year, so please put these events on your calendar today.

As a reminder, our first General Meeting will be held on the first Thursday of September. Please be sure to check out the announce-ment on page 2 and register online. I hope to see you there!

FROM TULSA INTERNATIONAL

AIRPORT

Take interstate 244 West and after

downtown Tulsa follow the signs

towards Sand Springs, (64/51 also

known locally as the Keystone Ex-

pressway or the Cimarron Turn-

pike). Stay in the right lane on

64/51 and exit on the Gilcrease

Museum Road and then turn right.

At the next traffic light (Edison) turn

right. Travel ½ mile and turn left on

Union Ave. Club entrance is imme-

diately on right.

FROM RIVERSIDE DRIVE

NOT recommended due to con-

struction. Travel north on River-

side until you come to Denver Ave-

nue and merge to the right. Once

on Denver, travel approximately

1.5 miles to Edison and turn left.

Travel approximately 1 mile to Un-

ion (you will pass the golf course

on the right). Turn Right on Union.

Club entrance is immediately on

right.

Ethics and Compliance Program Effectiveness September 19, 2017 | 1:00-2:00 p.m. ET | 1 CPE

This webinar tackles the challenging problems associated with evaluating ethics and compliance program effec-tiveness. Ever-changing external requirements, board expectations, and the leadership team’s focus on compli-ance continue to increase the need to know if gaps exist in an organization’s ethics-related behaviors, and if the organization’s culture supports doing the right thing from an ethics standpoint.

The presenter will describe a framework to support internal audit’s role in ethics and compliance program effec-tiveness and measure the “strength” of the organization’s culture. The framework can be used to examine the application of ethical standards, how organizations investigate and address grievances, external financial disclo-sures, and how the culture impacts the ability of employees to work consistently with ethical expectations.
