The entire production involves 60+ AMA students and those interested in theater. Director Stephen Love is no stranger to the The Wiz, having been involved in multiple productions of the timeless musical. However, Love and the students have been crafting more than just a theatrical escape. I want the production to have a whimsical feel but to also carry a message about conservation and how important it is that we conserve our resources and our relationships with each other, Love stated. He also shared that he was thrilled to work with students on a production theyve been aching to do for sometime. Senior AMA Student Demetri Hicks, who is playing the Scarecrow, knows that this particular musical holds a special place for many of Lawndale High Schools students, stating that many students grew up with The Wiz. He further added,

All cast members are extremely talented and dedicated, thus giving me even more of a drive to do my part and make the show happen. Hicks joins an all-star cast of Lawndale and Lloyd High School students. Senior Jonayah Sundifu plays Dorothy while a group of talented students round out the fab four: Makai Wilkerson as the Tin Man, Gio Napoles as the Lion, and Mark Verdullo as the Wiz. Add in senior Alecca Tapagan as Addaperle, senior Tania Johnson as Glinda, and junior Destinni Wells as Evilene, and the auditorium will be bursting with every song and dance.
