The Club’s website canyoncross-
winds.org is up and running. The
webmaster of the new site is Tom
Schaefer and Tom has been work-
ing on the site for a while now. If
you haven’t seen it take a look.
Also, with much work and giving
up their flying time Tom Schaefer
and Doug Wilson have gotten the
field camera working. This is
available on the web site. Still
some bugs but they will be worked
out. Thanks Tom and Doug.
Thanks to Cory Dail for his work
on building a ramp from the dirt
area on the north end of the run-
way to the runway surface. This
ramp is long enough that it will
save your plane if you come up
short on your landing. Thank you
for the work Cory.
At the July Meeting we had a
discussion about the safe opera-
tion of turbine powered aircraft at
the Crosswinds Field. Thanks to
Cory Dail and Lee Buchok for get-
ting together and coming up with
a set of rules for the safe operation
of these aircraft at out site. We
will discuss this proposal and the
membership can decided if we
wish to put these rules in effect for
turbine operation.
The proposal is as follows:
….
(Proposal placed on page 2 due to its size… Ed.)
This was a lot of information that
Cory and Lee put together in a very
short time. Thanks again guys.
And while we have been on field
safety just a few other things I have
observed going on that still remain
unsafe due to the proximity of our
pit area to the main runway. These
flying practices cannot keep going on
with the hazards they pose to the
members in the pits. These are 3D
flying over the runway and behind
the pits, high Alpha flight down the
runway, and high-speed low passes
down the runway. All of these flying
styles SHALL take place east of the
main runway of north west of the field.
FUEL UPDATE: As of this writing
we have 11 gallons on hand. Thanks to
Bob for setting up the purchase and
getting it to the field. See a club officer
to purchase your fuel. The price is still
$20 a gallon. We are going to order
more fuel.
The Board welcomes your ideas to
make the club a better place for all
members. We also welcome your criti-
cism as long as it’s constructive criti-
cism.
Remember the vote on membership
limit at the August 28th meeting.
The next regular Board-General
Meeting will be at Mimi’s Café, 24201
W Magic Mountain Parkway on
Wednesday August 28, 2019 at 7:00
PM. Come join us for dinner or a piece
of pie, sorry Bob apple only, cake, or
muffin and visiting. We meet at 6:00
P.M. for dinner. All members and guest
are invited.
That’s it for now.
Take care and stay cool,

Greetings to all,
The weather has changed. Back
in June and early July we didn’t
know when it would be time to
put the jackets away but summer
has finally made it here.
Thanks again to Bill Ardizzone
for running the mower over the
weeds again.
Welcome to the new members.
As of the July Meeting the
membership is somewhere be-
tween 87 and 91. Mike was out of
town so we didn’t have an accu-
rate number.
At the July Meeting a motion
was made and seconded to
amend our membership cap from
the current level of 140 members
to 90 members. Based on where
the actual membership is, I think
it should be somewhere between
90 and 100. At the August Meet-
ing we will have some more dis-
cussion on the membership level
and a vote to set a new member-
ship level if this is what the
membership wants. So, come to
the August Meeting and let your
voice be heard. Also, at the July
Meeting the members present
voted on a moratorium to not
accept ant new members until
the Club has an accurate current
number of members.
On Saturday August 10th the
Club will be having a Giant Bird
fun fly. This will be open to all
members and a $10 landing fee
to non-members. Just bring your
largest plane, any size will do,
and come on out. Lunch will be
provided.
We have Club Tee Shirts on
order, they will have our logo on
the back and Canyon Crosswinds
on the front. The cost will be $20
each. Kevin said they will be
ready and he will pick them up
on Wednesday July 31st. We
should have them at the field
shortly after that. Tee Shirt col-
ors are white and grey.
