“The Whole Cell Catalog” (40 points)

There is not much that you cannot order online any more. There are catalogs

for just about anything you can think of. Your task in this project is to create a

catalog for something that there may not be a market for yet, but you never

know about the future. You have been hired by a company – ORGANELLES-R-

US, a manufacturer of high quality designer organelles. You are to design a

catalog that make them leaders in the organelles market.

Cell Wall Endoplasmic reticulum (smooth and rough)

Lysosomes

Cell Membrane Ribosome Cytoplasm

Nucleus Golgi apparatus Chloroplast

Nucleolus Mitochondria Vacuoles

Use your textbook (Chapter 3) or other references to look up information on the organelles. 1. Every organelle will have its own page in the catalog. Your pages must include the following: a) describe the structure of the organelle b) describe the function in the cell c) include what kind of cell it is found in: ANIMAL, PLANT, or BOTH. d) a sales pitch for the organelle (why someone should buy that

organelle) e) a drawing of the organelle 2. You will need to design a cover for your catalog. 3. You need a full color labeled diagram of either a plant cell or an animal cell

included in the catalog.

4. You will also need to produce a Table of Contents which will be the first page inside the cover of your catalog. This should be done last and should include the following information.

5. Staple your pages together in the correct order, or put you project in a

folder as a group. Loose papers will not be accepted. Don’t forget the table of contents should come right after the cover page.

Your final grade on this assignment will be graded on content, accuracy,

effort, and creativity. See attached rubric.
