• CA is also famous for computers!– Silicon Valley is here-remember silicon makes

computer chips!!– Also telecommunications centers are here-where

• the federal government is a big employer in the west.

• In Hawaii-1/10 people are in the army• 2/3 of Utah is owned by the government

• Why? Flat land for landing plans etc..
