It is not any secret that in today’s high energy

marketing needs, consistent messaging is absolutely

imperative. In my business’ earlier days that messaging

was developed and distributed by me and my staff of me! I found conquering both the production and delivering messaging rather difficult. Therefore, in my opinion,

having partners in messaging is imperative. Washburn Chamber

of Commerce’s eBlast and Facebook feeds have provided that. All of our special events have benefited significantly

from their use. Especially with our music and Solstice Parties.

As a business owner, when opportunity knocks, it doesn’t

cost anything additional, it produces positive results, I’m

not missing out on that.

• Marketing Committee published the Things to Do in Washburn brochure. We did a short run in anticipation of added businesses so be sure to contact the office if you want to be added.

• We have reimagined Brownstone Summerfest for 2018 and beyond into: Brownstone Block Party · 3 Days of Celebrating Families and Friends Getting Together and Hanging Out.

• We have a budget surplus:

• We were able to purchase necessary equipment that we’ve been borrowing for years. Now we have our own PA system, water coolers on wheels for events, a laminator, our new printer/copier where we print our own flyers, postcards, etc., and we were able to update our computer system and security software in the office.

• In 2018, we’ll be ramping up our destination marketing plus additional marketing for our events.

• The board is developing a position for a part-time Executive Director.

• The Chamber is planning for a move to the Historic Civic Center and celebrating the Civic Center’s 100th year!

• Business After Hours: Sponsor and/or attend a Chamber After Hours event! A great way to network, connect with the business community and share updates. Please call the Chamber office if you are interested in hosting a Business After Hours event.

• Mailing List: Email list and/or mailing list of our members available. It will not be distributed to non-members.

• Weekly Email Blast: Sharing information in our weekly Email Blast is an exclusive membership benefit; anyone can sign up to receive the Email Blast, but only members can share their news and events. Anyone can sign up at www.washburnchamber.com.

• Borrow & Use Equipment: Portable PA System with Wireless Microphones, Color Copier/Scanner/Printer, Water Coolers for Events, Laminator, Highway Signage Area, and Vests & Crossing Guard Flags.

• Bulk Mailing Permit: Available for use on mailings of 200 pieces or more. Contact the Chamber office for details on how to use the bulk mailing permit and design tips.

• Brochure Display: Display your brochures in the Chamber office.

• Business Referral System: Chamber staff gives referrals to member businesses in response to the phone calls, emails, and in person.

• Chamber Annual Meeting and Dinner: Presentation summarizing accomplishments and year-end reports along with board member elections and recognition of business/person of the year.

• Relocation Packets: Information on our community, Chamber Membership list and map is sent to those requesting information on the area.

• Ribbon Cutting and Grand Openings: Chamber Members are welcome to have a celebration and photo opportunity for special milestones. These photos are published in the area newspaper and on our social media. Contact the Chamber office to schedule your ribbon cutting. » See photo.

• Wisconsin Harbor Towns Association (WHTA): The WHTA is a non-profit organization that promotes tourism to water-based cities. Represented by the Chamber, Washburn is one of the nineteen Harbor Towns that is featured in their guide and on their website: www.wisconsinharbortowns.org

• Industry Resources: Providing information on state programs and resources such as Travel Green WI, JEM grants, and more.

• Area Partnerships: Other Chambers in our Chequamegon Bay area link to our Washburn Area Chamber website as well as cooperate in area events.
