Preparing for the Holiest Week of the Year
Dear Parishioners,
Like last year, we are having a special Divine Mercy Mass at 3 pm on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 8. Divine Mercy Sunday is an ex-tension of the Great Feast of Easter and St. Faustina told us that it is a day of extraordinary graces. So, we shouldn’t let this day catch us by surprise as if it were any other day. We are already planning to launch our Perpetual Adoration Chapel-dedicated to Divine Mercy-on that day, but there’s still more we can do.
I personally invite you to join me in praying the Divine Mercy No-vena leading up to that day. It starts on Good Friday and ends Di-vine Mercy Sunday. It involves praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet every day for Nine Days for a specific series of intentions. You can find out more at TheDivineMercy.org. You can of course include your own intentions, but I also ask that you pray for our parish, our city, and for an end to the violence and desperation that plagues our community.
Please, don’t miss this opportunity of grace. Thank you for your prayers and may God’s merciful face continue to shine upon us!
In Christ, Fr. Albert

2018 Prayer Calendar for Seminarians—Diocese of Lafayette, Louisiana O Lord Jesus Christ, great High Priest, I pray that you call many worthy souls to your holy priesthood. Enlighten the Bishop and Vocation Director in the choice of candidates, the Spiritual Directors in molding them, and the professors
instructing them. Lead the seminarians daily in your unerring footsteps, so that they may become priests who are models of purity, possessors of wisdom, and heroes of sacrifice. May they be steeped in humility and aflame with love for God
and man, apostles of your glory and sanctifiers of souls. Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us. Amen

Spiritual Adoption Program Month 3—Hi! I’m three months old now. I’m about 3 inches long and I weigh one ounce. That’s not much, but I’m fully formed and can even suck my thumb! Keep praying for me.
A Reminder: Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spir-itually adopted who is in danger of abortion.
Prayer of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
Please remember to pray daily for your Spiritual Adopted Ba-by and the baby’s mother and father. During your earthly life this spiritually adopted child of yours will be known only to God but in the world to come it is hoped that you will meet the child whose life was spared by your prayers and spend eternal happiness with them.

Disch-DeClouet Annual Campaign
The Disch-DeClouet Social Service Center is a non-profit organization, run by 35 dedicated volunteers. The Center has served the poor and needy of Iberia Parish providing for critical and basic human needs (food, clothing, utility and rent assistance, and other help) for over 40 years. Last year alone, over 14,000 persons - our neighbors - were served. We are conducting our Annual Campaign which will run through the Lenten Season, and we need your help. We ask that you prayerfully consider investing in those less fortunate by sharing your gifts. Without additional financial support we cannot maintain the level of service that we have been giving for many years. Please use the campaign envelope for your tax-deductible donation and see the brochure for more information. May God bless you for your generosity. Thank you!

A Stewardship
Moment
Fifth Sunday of Lent Weekend of
March 17/18, 2018
This weekend we participate in the proclamation of the pas-sion and death of Jesus according to the Gospel of Mark. In the extended version of this weekend’s Gospel reading, Jesus is at Gethsemane, praying to his Father, in much emotional distress. He knows he can save himself. He can escape over the Mount of Olives in the dead of night and make his way safely into the Judean desert. Instead, Jesus chooses obedi-ence to his Father and waits for his persecutors. As Saint Paul puts it in the second reading, Jesus is “obedient to the point of death.” Jesus’ obedience is a lesson for those who are good stewards of their life in Christ. Let us reflect on how we might be more obedient to the will of God instead of our own will.
