Note book Project
Twelfth edition of Note Book Project started in June, 2010, more than 100,000 note books were distributed to nearly 25,000 students in urban and rural areas. The project was originally conceived by Rtn. K.Ramanath in 1998 was an annual event. Now the project is adopted by District and South participated in this District project in a big way. Many Rotarians and their friends and relatives have contributed to this project and it was successfully completed.
Rtn.Babu Shankar is the Chairman for the Akshara Note Book Project initiated by our DG Rtn. M.N.Suresh. The project generated lot of enthusiasm among the Rotary clubs and 300,000 note books were distributed by various clubs under this project.
The note books were distributed to schools situated even in faraway places like Sirsi, Chikmagalur, Pavagoda apart from neighbouring places of Bangalore. Many thanking letters were received by the club from the schools appreciating the efforts taken by Club with excellent quality paper and wrapper. The most important point is the books were distributed to students as soon as schools were re opened which really saved them the money. The literacy improvement is always on top agenda of Rotary and Rotary South.
