Calling all Quilters!! Now is the time to plan which quilts you will be dis-

playing in our biennial show. Please don’t think your work is not “good enough.” We want to boast about ourselves and our projects and how much they men to us—why they are our treasures! There are still some committees for our show that are in need of help. Please look at the list on page 8 to choose the committee (s) you would like to partici-pate in. All guild members are needed to put on our show and we are pleased to have folks come from all around the area to see our show. I’m willing to help you get started. That goes for all the committees. If you have any questions at all, please fell free to call me, (760) 723-5579, or Carol Carpenter, (760) 728-9494.

Quilts of Love

Thanks to the following quilters that turned in completed quilts to

ning, Carol Kratz (3), Linda Palmer (2) Joyce Raglin (2), Patti

Scott, Lillian Galante, and Marj Freda. Keep up the good work!

Lecture: Painters Path To Quilting!.............................Patt Blair Thursday, May 7th 6:30 pm at Fallbrook Community Center This title sounds pretty straightforward but Patt says she’s not that mentally tidy! Patt proclaims to be in constant battle between left and right brain, and says “that’s not all bad as it keeps a minute amount of order in an otherwise fiber scrappy life-style.” Patt says that’s a nice way of saying she’s messy. Having begun her art path painting oils, then watercolors, Patt’s quilting art focuses largely on life images… especially the simple ones she says… the ones with heart-warming or powerful messages. Most of Patt’s work includes a being with a heart-beat. She says: “It seems to give life to the work.” This lecture includes slides and samples of Patt’s pathway into art quilting. Patt ad-dresses the application of traditional art media into quilting, new materials devel-oped for quilting, tips and examples of machine quilting techniques that support the message in the quilt top, and finally, some ways to finish and hang quilts intended for wall display.

Workshop: Painting on Fabric with Inks……….Patt Blair Saturday, May 9th 9am – 3 pm at the Fallbrook Public Utility District, Board Room You will be amazed at what you can create using these flexible and easy-to-use pig-ment inks made by Tsukineko of Japan. These permanent inks can be used to en-hance commercial fabrics or to create an original art piece painted on clean white fabric. Special fiber stick applicators make painting much simpler than traditional brushing techniques. They are surprisingly easy to use. It’s like crayons for grown ups! You will be amazed and proud of your creation. Paint a landscape, still life, or animal using TSUKINEKO Fabric Inks and special stick applicators. Bring your own artwork or choose from Patt's drawings. If you are inter-ested in attending this workshop call: Elvia Dawson at (951) 694-8023.
