A Safety Reminder From D49As the seasons turn and students return to school, you will notice that the Meridian Ranch landscape has changed. To increase the safety of our students in the Falcon Zone, a 4-way stop has been installed at Londonderry and Rainbow Bridge.
Students, please refer to these guidelines when returning to school this fall:
1. Please use caution when approaching this intersection. Don’t forget to come to a complete stop.
2. Crosswalks have been installed to increase the safety of our students to and from school. Please ensure that you come to a complete stop before the indicated lines on the road.
3. Take a look around and see if there are any other cars at the 4-way stop. Please Remember this golden rule: automobiles leave the stop sign or traffic light in the same order in which they arrived at the stop. Therefore, if you arrive at a 4-way stop first, then you are first to leave.
4. At a four-way stop, if two vehicles reach the intersection simultaneously, the vehicle on the left must yield the right-of-way to the vehicle on the right.
Thank you for attention to the new traffic patterns and your priority in keeping the students in the Falcon Zone safe!

Manager’s Message
Lifeguard Competition: Many of our lifeguards are participating in a Lifeguard Olympics competition near Denver. Next time you’re at the Meridian Ranch Recreation Center pools, ask a lifeguard how they did. We are very proud of the extensive skills and training that our lifeguards have acquired.
Street Improvements: When driving on Londonderry Drive, be sure to watch out for the new stop signs at the east end near the schools. This is a long-awaited safety improvement that will especially serve our students and other pedestrians who cross Londonderry. We are hopeful the County Public Works Department will soon be performing pavement improvements on Londonderry’s west end. The next section of Lambert Road is expected to be paved and opened during October.
Falcon Freedom Days: Our annual independence celebration this year was a big success thanks to our District staff and the hosting Antler Creek Golf Course. Also, we are very appreciative of the many donors whose contributions helped to cover the costs of the events. The day started with a 5K run and the kids bicycle parade. The Blood Bank mobile unit was parked at the Rec Center to receive your blood donations. Afternoon events included many booths and exhibits, face painting, a magician, bounce houses, petting zoo, emergency vehicle displays, and more. The afternoon transitioned into the evening BBQ by the Shafer’s Steak House at CreekView Grill and music by Broseph from Nashville. By the way, it was the band’s manager who won the morning 5K Run! The night ended with a fantastic fireworks display.
School Openings: Looking ahead, remember that school starts in August and we all must be watching out for our students walking to school and the additional vehicle traffic on school routes. Please drive, bike, and walk safely!
As always, you can learn much about our community and the District that serves you by checking our website at: www.meridianranchmetro.org. You can also call our office at 719-495-6567 or stop by in person (We’re in The Shops at Meridian Ranch).

The community is governed by the Design Review Council "DRC" that enforces the Conditions, Covenants, and Restrictions for Meridian Ranch DRC ("CC&R's") and the Meridian Ranch Design Guidelines. The "DRC" is not a homeowner’s association (HOA) as the homeowners do not own common property within the community. The "DRC" is a nonprofit corporation which is governed under the Colorado Non-Profit Act.

News From the Falcon Fire Department
Fire Hydrants: One of the advantages to living in Meridian Ranch is the availability of fire hydrants. Should a fire occur, firefighters have a quick and plentiful supply of water with which to extinguish it. However, they need your help to ensure hydrants are kept clear and accessible.
Maintain Clearances: Fire codes require that firefighters have “unobstructed access” to fire hydrants at all times. This means that landscaping, fencing, or other items must not interfere with a hydrant’s visibility or accessibility. A minimum of three feet of clear space must be maintained around the circumference of a fire hydrant to allow firefighters to work and connect hoses to supply water to the fire engine.
Don’t Park Too Close: As part of maintaining proper clearance, vehicles must not be parked within 15 feet of a fire hydrant. In the event of a fire, firefighters need room to connect large diameter hose for water supply to the fire engine. Parking closer than 15 feet is also illegal under Colorado law.
Keep ‘em Yellow! Yellow might not coordinate well with your home or landscaping, but fire hydrants are painted to be easily visible. Please do not paint them to match the neighborhood decor.
