The Victoria and Albert Museum is a museum dedicated to the applied and decorative arts.
It was built in 1852 as the South Kensington Museum, after the success of the great exhibition in 1851.
It is located on the corner of Cromwell Gardens and Exhibition Road in London's Kensington and Chelsea District
The first Director was Sir Henry Cole, a large exhibition co-organizer, who won some of the exhibits of this action for the collection of a museum.
Originally the collection of the Museum includes both art and scientific articles
In 1913, were singled out and scientific collections formed the basis of Science Museum.
In 1899 it was in honor of Queen Victoria and her husband prince Albert renamed the Victoria and Albert Museum. Since the 1980s. years 20. century is the Museum officially known as the Victoria and Albert Museum, the National Museum of Art and Design.
