Pool Well summer is winding down, which means that our pool will be closing soon. I hope that everyone who used the pool enjoyed this season. We did have some operation issues that were solved. Hopefully next season will run smoother. I want to thank Mary Kate Weaver and her crew for an excellent job. The last day for our pool is Labor Day. Again I want to thank all of you who enjoyed the pool this year. See you next season.

HandicappingEquitable Stroke Control

Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) is the downward adjustment of individual hole scores (for handicap purposes) in order to make handicaps more representative of a player's potential ability. An abnormally large score on a hole is not representative of a player's potential and would inflate a player’s handicap. ESC is applied after the round and is only used when the actual score or the most likely score (if a player doesn’t complete a hole) exceeds a player’s maximum number. ESC sets a limit to the number of strokes a player can take on a hole depending on Course Handicap (not handicap index).

Handicapping Cont’dThere is no limit to the number of individual hole scores on which an Equitable Stroke Control reduction may be made.

Apply ESC to all scores, including tournament scores. Below is the maximum number a player can take:

Are You Getting Club Emails? We routinely send out emails to VSICC members to keep everyone informed about what is going on in the club. If you are not getting those emails and would like to, please let us know and we will make sure you are on our email list.

Contact Denise Fanniff in the club office at: [email protected].

As the summer winds down and the fall starts to roll in, we will be starting our normal year end chores. While Conor doesn't have a firm date set as of yet, we just want everyone to be aware that we will be aerating the greens   within the next month. When we have a more definitive time we will let everyone know.

As always, I would like to commend Conor and the "Boys" for all their hard work throughout the course of the year. It has been a rather challenging year, in terms of different weather patterns, such as extreme heat and humidity, no rain, to much rain all at once and a host of other things are not as obvious to most   of us. Throughout all of this the Guys have been able to continue giving us one of the best conditioned golf course in the area. To that, I say Thank You Fella's
