3 Background

Dari total 33 provinsi di Indonesia pada tahun 2008 hanya 14 provinsi yang memiliki rasio elektifikasi lebih dari 60% sedangkan sisanya 14 provinsi dengan rasio elektrifikasi 41% sampai 60% dan 5 provinsi memiliki rasio elektrifikasi 20 sampai 40%.

Walaupun menurut data Kementrian ESDM pada tahun 2013 rasio elektrifikasi di Indonesia sebesar 80,51% namun kesenjangan rasio elektrifikasi masih belum teratasi sepenuhnya.

Terbukti dengan pernyataan rektor UGM pada tahun 2015 bahwa kesenjangan rasio elektrifikasi perlu dikurangi.
