The idea behind a transformation school like Friendship Academy of Engineering and Technology is to limit the number of transitions that students make in their academic careers.

Resulting in:Students in a comfortable school cultureStudents who are exciting about learning

Page 5: The time is now!!![1]

This is the reason why this presentation will be centered around F.A.E.T’s Middle School population and trends.

If F.A.E.T wants to have a successful high school then it must start with a successful middle school students.

My goal as a the school 6th & 7th grade Social Studies teacher is to assist and reinforce the techniques and skills that my students have learned in their Math and English class in order to help F.A.E.T meet our A.Y.P.

OutlineMarch of 2011, the Middle School students

at F.A.E.T. will meet or exceed the Annual Measureable Objective of 81.8% in Reading and 71.4% in Math set for us by the Maryland State of Education in order to reach A.Y.P

BUT HOW DO WE ACHIEVE THIS GOAL????

The Answer!!!

Facebook Twitter

Page 12: The time is now!!![1]

The answer is simple. Social Networks

• If educators begin integrate the use of social networks not only will take a interest in their tested subjects, but they will also be excited about the M.S.A. and about doing well on them.

Page 13: The time is now!!![1]

Educators need to begin to incorporate social networks into their curriculum and test prep.

Reasons why: Students consistently use them and are comfortable with. Their sites are updated with newer Web 2.0

technologies Teachers can share and link variety of Web 2.0 to a

class social network pageStudents will have constant communication with Peers

and Teachers.

This can work for classroom projects, Why can’t it work for M.S.A Prep?

Constant communication with Peers and Teachers.

After school and Saturday extended learning programs could be held via Twitter or using the Wall function as a discussion board. During these programs students could also use the

instant massager function to get more of a one on one instruction.

Teachers can upload YouTube clips, News casts blogs, articles, podcast, as well as many other forms Web 2.0 that related to Math, Reading & Test Prep.
