ECONOMY:grains, iron, small-scale manufacturing

OTHER:NYC and Philadelphia became the largest cities in the colonies.

SOUTHERN COLONIES

SOUTHERN COLONIESMD, VA, NC, SC, GA

GEOGRAPHY:fertile soil, warm climate, many rivers

ECONOMY:

tobacco, rice, indigorelied entirely on agriculture

OTHER:Tidewater: large plantations, many slaves

Backcountry: small farms, few slaves
