Spartans, we are now almost at the end of another year – 2012 is winking at us from around the corner. Are we ready for this new year?

Not until we say goodbye to 2011.

Let us say goodbye to every heartache and every painful episode and every challenge and every tough thing we had to cope with. Let us say goodbye to every loss and every mistake and every failure. Let’s throw off every negative piece of baggage we are still carrying around with us.

We don’t have to say goodbye to everything though – we don’t have to let go of every good memory, or the happy times, or every moment of laughter and joy, or each little daily success, or even the battles won in 2011. Those are the

things we can hold onto and remember forever, and we can take them with us into 2012.

Let’s say “HELLO!” to 2012 with anticipation and curiosity and a little bit of childlike awe!

Thank you to each and every one of you who gave your all in 2011 – Sparta management really appreciates your hard work and dedication.

May each and every Spartan have a wonderful festive season with friends and family and start off 2012 feeling refreshed and positive.

Please party responsibly, don’t drink and drive, and be safe wherever you go and whatever you do.

G A U T E N GCongratulations to meisie Theron’s grandson, LP Zaaiman, who travelled to New Zealand with the under 16 junior Springboks recently – Meisie says she is so proud of him!(LP is the young man with his hand on his chest second from right in the middle row.)

Our condolonces go out to Sfiso Xaba and his family on the death of his father – Sfiso, may your father rest in peace and may you find strength in God to cope with your sad loss.

W E L K O MPatsy Lombard was admitted for an operation recently, and we would like to wish her a speedy recovery.

Danie du Toit and his wife, Adri, are expecting a baby boy in March 2012! Congratulations to Danie and Adri – we hope that all goes well with the pregnancy and the birth – time flies, enjoy every moment.

Welcome back to Ronel Pieters, who left us to move to the Eastern Cape with her new husband a while back. They are both back in Welkom and Ronel has been working for us during the strike period.

Desirë and Frans viljoen will become grandparents in March 2012! Congratulations Ousus, may you enjoy the time ahead and may everything go smoothly with the pregnancy and birth.

Kelly Noonan from Buildon Construction donated a filter coffee machine to the canteen recently – thank you very much Kelly. Can we all pop in for a test cuppa?

Sjoe, die ooievaar is besig by Sparta.

M A R Q U A R DWelcome to our new staff members – Sonja brand as depot controller and Dewald Labuschagne as electrician’s assistant. We hope you will be very happy here in Marquard and that you will enjoy working for Sparta.

We said goodbye to two staff members who resigned recently – Leon Neveling and Jolene le Roux. Best of luck to the two of you in your new endeavours.

W E L K O MCindy Lase is also pregnant – congratulations Cindy, hope all goes well with your pregnancy. Please let us know the due date!

By the time this newsletter is published, Charles mathewson will be a married man. Charles and Janine Petit will be tying the knot at the end of October. We hope you have a beautiful wedding day and that your marriage will be so blessed.

Joel Talamba also got married recently – congratulations Joel, we hope you will also have a blessed and happy marriage.

Pierre Oosthuizen and his girlfriend were in a serious car accident recently. Although the car was written off, they did not sustain any serious injuries, for which they and all of us at Sparta are very grateful.

Good luck to Andre Pretorius and mJ Socha for their upcoming exams – study hard guys!

Ishmael molotsi (or Oupa as we all know him) turned 60 recently. Jane and Thandi from Admin 1

kitchen decided to treat him to his own “cake” and a candle that he could blow out.

Our condolences go out to Joseph mpojane from the depot who lost his uncle recently. Joseph, may your uncle rest in peace and may you find acceptance in your grief.

En toe haak almal weer uit!

Loslitdag 2011 was weer eens vol pret en plesier toe almal net vir die fun daarvan opgedress het asof hulle nie gou weer so ’n kans gaan kry nie.

Hier by The Spartan is ons maar te bly ons hoef nooit ’n prys te kies vir die simpelste of oulikste uitrusting nie – dit sal net te moeilik wees om iemand uit te sonder!
