aNthONy t. BrOWdEr is an author, publisher, cultural historian, artist, and an educational consultant. He is a graduate of Howard University’s College of Fine Arts and has lectured extensively throughout the USA, Africa, Caribbean, Mexico, Japan and Europe, on issues related to African and African American History and Culture. He has traveled to Egypt 55 times since 1980 and is currently director of the ASA Restoration Project, which is funding the excavation and restoration of the 25th dynasty tomb of Karakhamun in Luxor, Egypt. He is the author of six publications (including the best sellers, From the Browder File and Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization) and the co-author of six publications, including two written with his now 35 year-old daughter, Atlantis Tye.

For the last three years, Tony Browder has been teaching students in San Jose, California, on a monthly basis using his books, Survival Strategies for Africans in America: 13 Steps to Freedom and From the Browder File.

While on Tony’s 22nd study tour to Egypt in August 2017, a great deal of interest was generated about replicating some aspects of the San Jose model in other parts of the USA. Tony and master teacher Debra Watkins, the Executive Director of A Black Education Network (ABEN), collaborated to create a national model to share.

Tony Browder’s work is known far and wide and highly regarded among the African American community.

After meeting once each month in 50-minute periods with students in three high schools in San Jose for the past two years to increase cultural awareness and critical thinking skills, Tony Browder (Founder and Executive Director of IKG-CC) partnered with Debra Watkins (Founder and Executive Director of A Black Education Network - ABEN) to pilot the program in Saturday Academies in four sites:

Due to the great impact these Saturday Academies had on the Browder Scholars and many of their parents as well as their site coordinators, we decided to extend the opportunity to Black communities across this country.

The Saturday Academies (called Cultural Immersion Program) will take place monthly from January 2019 through May 2019.
