LEV. 19:30

“‘Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the

LORD.

• Does God expect us christians to give special or reverence to church sanctuaries & facilities?

• We are to show reverence to God & to the things that represent His person & presence

He. 12:28-29

let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with

reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.”

• The sanctuary at that time was a tent, yet the presence of the Lord makes even the most commonplace setting very special & deserving of our reverence

• We live in an age that treats everything as common.

• Our prevailing culture teaches that no one should be regarded as any better than oneself.

PSALM 26:8

I love your sanctuary, LORD, the place where your glorious presence dwells.

THE PULPIT

The Pulpit is the stage or the platform in the church

THE SANCTUARY

The sanctuary is the shelter, refuge or the place of safety.

1.BEAUTIFICATION - adornment and decoration - Genesis 28:17 He was afraid

and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven."

NUMBERS 8:4

And this was the workmanship of the lampstand, hammered work of gold. From its base to its flowers, it was hammered work; according to the pattern that the LORD had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

- Ecclesiastes 5:1 Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong.

3. PRESERVATION - maintenance and safeguarding- Psalm 42:4 These things I

remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng

4. ORGANIZATION - put in order and systematize

- Exodus 25:9 Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.

PSALM 84: 10

10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

5. MANAGEMENT - Administration and Supervision - 2 Chronicles 2:1 Solomon gave

orders to build a temple for the Name of the LORD and a royal palace for himself.

One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple
