THE SYNTAX OF GEOMETRIC ARTWladimiro Politano

The Syntax of Geometric Art

The Syntax of Geometric Art, consists of abstract and geometric sculptures and paintings. Politano has been working to create his own artistic language by highlighting the extreme minimalist formations along with the primary colors. By using a vivid group of colors in his paintings, Politano is drawing geometric compositions showcasing outer forms of the artist’s internal world. The blue, yellow, and

red shapes used reflect both the harmony and incompatibility between the subconscious of the artist himself and reality.

His first geometric painting was the result of a tireless search for his own synthesis. His art was born from a constructive and dynamic process through drawing in which he developed visual geometric shapes creating the union between art, mathematics and geometry.

His geometric sculptures, composed of symmetrical and asymmetrical elements, are made with aluminum, steel, and/or iron. This allows a light reflection to display through the materials showing both the impeccable and minimalistic form. In addition, the emptiness created in the internal space acquires another form creating its own visual impact.

Biography

“I have lived in many places, and I believe they have all influenced my career in one way or another.” W.P.

Master Wladimiro Politano, was born on February 19, 1940, in Lago (Cosenza) Italy. As a very young child, he discovered his inclination toward art. After graduating in 1965 from the “Accademica di Belle Arte di Roma”, Politano started his artistic journey as a drawer, paint-er and sculptor. When leaving Rom e in 1966, he took up residence in Caracas, to become the artist’ second home.

While visiting NY in 1973, Politano was inspired by the worldwide center for the artists, and decided to set up a studio there. At that time, he was alongside other prominent artists, which influenced the beginning of his contemporary work. Together they exhibited their artwork in several galleries throughout NY.

In 1980, the mayor of the New Rochelle, NY, commended Politano for his outstanding artistic contribution to the promotion and success of both the art from private collection and public project of “Art on Plaza”. In 1981, he was invited for a group exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Toyama, with artists such as Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Calder and Rothko. During that period, Politano held several exhibitions at museums in United States, Austria, Italy and Venezuela.

The Kunstlerhause Museum of Vienna, invited him to join the Austri-an artists from the school of Fantastic Realism to celebrate a hundred years of the Museum.
